About the Role

The Agency Security Advisor reports to the Chief Information Officer, in the management of the NACC’s protective security measures, including functions and arrangements as required by the Australian Government’s Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).

This Canberra based role has people, program, and stakeholder management responsibilities that will require you to maintain a range of internal and external stakeholder relationship networks.

The position also advises the Chief Security Officer on key risks, issues, and strategies relating to the Commissions protective security.

The key duties of the position include:

Under general direction of the Chief Information Officer, you will work with a degree of autonomy and be responsible for managing the protective security arrangements across the NACC’s property portfolio, including the following key duties:

- Ensuring the NACC complies with the mandatory requirements of the PSPF, including the preparation of the annual PSPF compliance report for the Minister.
- Manage the development and application of the NACC’s Security Governance Framework, including the suite of policies, plans, procedures, and guidelines that support the NACC's protective security obligations in accordance with the PSPF.
- Work collaboratively with other internal and external security and integrity functions to develop,



mature and manage of the Commissions trusted insider threat management program.
- Ensuring that the NACC’s systems and processes for mitigating security risk are appropriately tailored to the NACC’s operating environment.
- Manage the daily operation of contracted security guards in their provision of security services, including reception and security guarding, administrative support services, surge capacity, and security operation room monitoring services.
- Provide guidance to NACC staff and developing instructional materials on all aspects of protective security, including development and presentation of security awareness training.
- Prepare high-quality written correspondence and submissions to support the effective delivery of protective security measures, project, and initiatives.
- Supervise a small team, including performance and development management.

The NACC is a small agency. In addition to these activities, from time to time you may be asked to undertake tasks that are outside your usual span of duties but that are within the range of your capabilities. Supporting one another in this way provides opportunities for exposure across the agency and is an integral part of the NACC’s positive workplace culture.

Eligibility

Employment with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is subject to the following conditions:

- Citizenship – Applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
- Security Clearance – This is a Designated Security Assessment Position (DSAP).



The occupant of this position must obtain and retain an AGSVA security clearance to the specified level.
- Suitability assessment – The NACC must be satisfied that successful applicants are of suitable character. They must undergo a rigorous pre-employment suitability screening process that can be intrusive in nature including (but not limited to) detailed background, character, employment, police, and financial checks.
- Probation - A probation period will apply to any new ongoing engagement to the Australian Public Service.

The NACC provides a service allowance of $2,039 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) to non-SES employees which acknowledges the special requirements of working at the NACC. This includes the need for high-level personal security assessments, the intrusion associated with notifying private financial and social interests and the necessity to engage in practices to prevent targeting by unlawful elements.

The NACC mission is to enhance integrity in the Commonwealth public sector by deterring, detecting and preventing corrupt conduct involving Commonwealth public officials through education, monitoring, investigation, reporting and referral.
