About the Role:

Use your teaching experience to support the next generation of teachers.
Are you an experienced teacher seeking a flexible way to stay connected with schools and the profession? Curtin University's School of Education is seeking experienced teachers to join our team of Professional Experience Supervisors to support pre-service teachers undertaking school placements during Term 4.

This casual role offers an opportunity to draw on your professional experience to mentor and support emerging teachers at one of the most significant stages of their development. At the same time, you'll build meaningful connections with schools, mentor teachers and the Curtin School of Education. We particularly welcome applications from experienced teachers, recently retired teachers, teachers working part time and educators looking for a flexible way to continue contributing to the profession.

Your responsibilities will include:

- As a Professional Experience Supervisor, you will be an important link between Curtin University, our partner schools and our pre-service teachers.
- You'll visit pre-service teachers during their school placements, observe their classroom practice and provide constructive, practical feedback that helps them develop their confidence and capability as teachers.
- You'll also work collaboratively with Mentor Teachers and Curtin's Professional Experience team to support each pre-service teacher's progress and help them get the most from their placement experience.
- The role is about more than assessment. It's an opportunity to share what you've learned through your own teaching career, encourage the development of emerging educators and strengthen the relationship between universities and schools.

Selection Criteria:
Bring substantial classroom experience and enjoy supporting the development of others.
To be considered, you will have:

- A recognised Initial Teacher Education qualification

- At least three years' experience as a practising teacher in a school setting.
- Experience providing professional guidance, mentoring, coaching or constructive feedback.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to build positive professional relationships with pre-service teachers, teachers and schools.
- The confidence to have constructive and, when necessary, challenging professional conversations.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage placement visits and associated administration.

Current teacher registration or recent teaching experience is desirable but not essential. Previous experience supervising or mentoring pre-service or graduate teachers, knowledge of Initial Teacher Education professional experience and established school networks will also be highly regarded.

Role Requirements:

1. You will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role
2. Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction

Your New Team: – Curtin School of Education / Faculty of Humanities
Curtin's School of Education prepares the teachers who will educate and inspire future generations.
Professional experience is a critical part of that preparation. As a Professional Experience Supervisor,

your experience becomes part of their education.
