The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting daily production activities, ensuring machinery is operated safely and efficiently while maintaining high quality standards.
This position suits a hands-on individual with robust attention to detail, a proactive work ethic, and the ability to work effectively within a team-based manufacturing environment. The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Operate, monitor, and adjust production line machinery, including washing lines, grading systems, conveyor belts, weighing, sealing, and labelling equipment.
- Sort and grade vegetables according to size, quality, and customer specifications.
- Conduct visual inspections and take samples to ensure product quality and compliance with food safety standards.
- Pack vegetables into cartons, bags, or crates, ensuring accurate labelling, presentation, and preparation for dispatch.
- Stack, palletise, and organise packed produce for storage or delivery.
- Set up and follow cleaning and maintenance schedules to keep machinery in good working order and prevent production delays.
- Dispose of waste and vegetable scraps in accordance with environmental and safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic work area following workplace health, safety, and food handling procedures.
- Assist team members and supervisors to meet production targets and adapt to seasonal or workload changes.
- Report any machinery faults, quality issues, or safety hazards promptly to supervisors.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
- Minimum of 12 months relevant experience in a production, packing, or manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of Certificate II or higher in Production/Process Operations or in related field is preferred.
- Experience operating production line machinery and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail for sorting, grading, and quality control.
- Ability to work efficiently in a team and meet production targets under time-sensitive schedules.
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures, including manual handling, and food handling standards (HACCP).
- Basic problem-solving skills to address minor machinery or production issues and maintain smooth workflow.
