About the role

The Traffic Controller / Crew Leader is responsible for the secure and compliant implementation, operation, monitoring, and maintenance of traffic management systems and traffic guidance schemes on roadwork, civil construction, maintenance, utility, and event sites. The role supports the safe movement of workers, road users, pedestrians, and cyclists while ensuring compliance with approved Traffic Management Plans (TMPs), Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGSs), legislative requirements, and company procedures.

Key responsibilities

- Implement and maintain traffic management systems in accordance with approved Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Schemes
- Set up, monitor, adjust, and remove traffic management devices as required
- Conduct regular inspections of traffic management layouts to ensure ongoing compliance
- Respond to changing site conditions and report any issues to supervisors
- Lead and coordinate assigned traffic control crews
- Ensure all crew members understand site requirements and work safely
- Conduct pre-start inspections of vehicles, trailers, plant,



and traffic management equipment
- Complete required site documentation, timesheets, diaries, inspections, and checklists accurately
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, clients, road users, and team members
- Report incidents, hazards, near misses, and non-conformances

About you

- Current Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Current Main Roads WA Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) accreditation
- Current Main Roads WA Traffic Controller accreditation
- Current C/CA Class Driver's Licence
- Ability to work safely in outdoor environments
- Strong commitment to safety
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures
- Attention to detail
- Reliability and punctuality
