About us

Boab Metals Limited is progressing the development of the Sorby Hills Project, located 50 km northeast of Kununurra in the East Kimberley. Sorby Hills is Australia's largest undeveloped near-surface lead–silver deposit, supported by granted mining leases, EPA approval, and proximity to established infrastructure, including Wyndham Port only 150 km away. With permitting and infrastructure already in place, Sorby Hills is uniquely positioned for rapid-track production. Alongside Sorby Hills, Boab is actively exploring its 100%-owned Manbarrum and Eight Mile Creek prospects, strengthening our growth pipeline across the region.

About the role

We are seeking a highly capable Mine Planning Engineer (Medium Term) to join Boab Metals and play a key role in bridging strategic mine plans with day-to-day operational requirements. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, this position will be responsible for the development, optimisation, and maintenance of medium-term mine plans and production schedules. The successful candidate will ensure achievable and value-driven mining plans that support production targets, resource recovery, operational efficiency, and business objectives. This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the successful development and ramp-up of the Sorby Hills Project during a critical growth phase.

Key responsibilities

- Develop and maintain medium-term mine plans and rolling production schedules

- Translate life-of-mine strategies into practical and achievable mining sequences

- Optimise pit staging, pushbacks, haulage strategies, and mining schedules to maximise operational performance

- Conduct scenario analysis and trade-off studies to support operational and business decisions





- Monitor actual performance against plans and identify opportunities for continuous improvement

- Collaborate closely with geology, survey, geotechnical, and operations teams to ensure planning assumptions remain current and practical

- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual planning and budgeting processes

- Develop and maintain planning models using current operational, geological, and economic data

- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and planning updates for site leadership and management

- Participate in studies related to operational improvements, mine expansion, and future growth opportunities

About you

- Degree qualification in Mining Engineering

- 5 years' experience in mine planning with site based open pit mining operations

- Experience in medium-term planning and production scheduling

- Proficiency in mine planning software such as Deswik, MineSched, Vulcan, or similar

- Strong understanding of mine design principles, scheduling methodologies, and operational constraints

- Demonstrated ability to balance safety, practical mining requirements, and business objectives

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

- Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams\
