About the Role
Looking to build your career in finance with a business that will genuinely invest in your development? IET is looking for an early-career Finance Officer to join our finance team and take the next step across finance and payroll operations.
You’ll be supported and mentored as you learn the detail of payroll – wages, Awards, and statutory obligations – while also getting exposure to accounts, compliance, and procurement as part of a close-knit finance team.
If you’ve got some hands-on payroll or finance experience under your belt, are detail-oriented, keen to keep learning, and want to build a genuine finance career, this is a role worth looking at.
Your Responsibilities
- Core Financial Operations — Support AR, AP, invoicing, payments, reconciliations, and expenses; help maintain accurate financial records and strong internal controls across GL accounts, leave provisions, and clearing accounts
- Payroll Processing & Administration — Support payroll processing including wages, allowances, superannuation, and statutory obligations; build your understanding of Award and EA interpretation with guidance from the team
- Compliance & Statutory Obligations — Assist with payroll tax, superannuation, PAYG, and long service leave reconciliations; help investigate discrepancies and learn to maintain audit-ready documentation
- Procurement & Supplier Management — Help set up and manage suppliers, purchase orders, and approvals; learn accurate cost coding and purchasing governance
- Administration & Continuous Improvement — Support finance and payroll workflows, inboxes, and document control; bring fresh ideas to help improve processes as you get up to speed
What You’ll Bring
- A completed qualification in accounting, finance, business, or a related field
- Some hands-on experience in payroll or a broader finance role — a junior payroll, accounts,
or finance position, part-time or full-time
- A genuine interest in building a career across both payroll and broader finance functions
- Confident with Microsoft Excel and comfortable picking up new systems quickly; exposure to Xero or similar accounting software is an advantage
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet hard deadlines
- Clear communicator with a collaborative approach and the confidence to engage across operational and leadership teams
- A positive, proactive attitude and genuine willingness to learn from an experienced team
Why IET?
- People-Focused Culture — A collaborative, supportive team where your work genuinely matters
- Structured Development — Hands-on training and mentoring across finance and payroll, with a transparent pathway as your skills grow
- Career Development — A genuine launchpad into a long-term finance career, not just an entry-level job
- Working Hours — Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm
- Competitive Remuneration — Strong pay for an early-career role, reflecting the experience you bring
- Award-Winning Business — Join a technology-focused company with a strong reputation across WA
