An exciting opportunity exists for a Medical Receptionist/Ophthalmic Assessor at South Street Eye Clinic, an established specialist ophthalmic practice with busy clinics in Leeming and Mt Lawley. Our Fellowship-trained ophthalmologists provide comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of eye conditions, supported by the latest imaging and surgical technology.

Requirements
- Reception experience (medical reception highly regarded, but high-turnover customer service/retail also valued), and/or
- Experience in ophthalmology/optometry/optical dispensing or as an ophthalmic assessor
Experience in medical reception and/or ophthalmic assessing is required. Full training is provided in either Ophthalmic Assessments or Medical Reception, depending on your background.
- Ability and willingness to learn technical ophthalmic assessing skills with significant 1:1 patient contact
- Patient, empathetic and articulate communication style, confident with elderly or anxious patients
- Strong attention to detail, resilience and work ethic (this is a fast-paced, high-demand clinic environment)
- Experience with Genie and/or Eclipse software (highly regarded)
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality reception and patient service, maintaining strict confidentiality and a professional presentation
- Open/close the practice, manage waiting areas, and contribute to daily cleanliness
- Handle bookings, patient flow, enquiries and clinic coordination across busy sessions
- Manage a high-volume front desk, delivering calm, professional service to a predominantly elderly patient base
- Maintain accurate patient records and demographics; scan and file clinical documentation
- Process Medicare claims (bulk bill and private), raise invoices, take payments, receipt fees, and complete daily banking/reconciliation
- Manage incoming/outgoing mail and support general office administration
- Undertake ophthalmic assessor duties as rostered (patient assessments, record completion, equipment care/sterilisation) and complete in-house training
