About the role:

We're looking for a skilled Backhoe Operator to join our Engineering Construction and Maintenance team, playing a hands-on role in keeping our City's roads, drains, footpaths and streetscapes in top condition.

In this role you'll operate the backhoe and largely assist with general drainage construction duties, working alongside Engineering Construction and Maintenance Supervisors on a variety of civil engineering tasks. From general construction to ongoing maintenance of key Council assets, your work will directly contribute to the safety, functionality and appearance of our local infrastructure.

You'll take pride and ownership in the quality of your work, applying strong technical skills and sound judgement to deliver reliable results, while identifying and addressing any remedial work needed along the way. Safety will always come first and you'll comply with WHS legislation and procedures, looking out for yourself, your colleagues and the community in everything you do.

This is a varied, active role that also calls for flexibility, with opportunities to assist across other areas of the City as required. Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

- Provide excellent customer service when dealing with internal and external customers and a willingness to make a difference in improving the quality of life for our community.
- Perform a variety of plant operations and general duties associated with the construction of earthworks, roads, drainage and in the maintenance of various engineering and parks assets.
- Operate and maintain all associated plant and equipment in accordance with secure working practices, policies and procedures.




- Assist when required in other maintenance activities within Parks and Engineering Maintenance.

The successful candidate will have the following:

- Skills and experience in drainage construction and the use of associated machinery
- HR Licence
- A satisfactory National Police Certificate
- White Card

The salary for this position will be from $77,769.79 - $78,884.59 per annum (includes loading), depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
