We're looking for an experienced furniture or interiors professional who can become our go-to person for showroom styling, merchandising and customer experience, while also working hands-on with customers as a Senior Showroom Consultant.

This is a role for someone who wants more influence than a traditional retail sales position. You'll have genuine ownership over how our showroom looks, feels and evolves from a styling and customer-experience perspective, with the opportunity to bring forward new ideas, help shape our growing collection and continually improve the way customers experience Marc & Main.

You'll spend time on the showroom floor having meaningful conversations with customers about their homes, style, needs and practical requirements, helping them bring different furniture, finishes and homewares together into a cohesive space.

You'll also work behind the scenes on visual merchandising, showroom displays, product curation, and new ideas for improving the showroom experience.

Importantly, this is not a staff-management position. You won't be responsible for rosters, performance management or managing the day-to-day work of other employees. These responsibilities sit with our Operations Manager and Operations Supervisor.

Instead, you'll take the lead when it comes to interiors, styling, merchandising and the front-end showroom experience, sharing your knowledge with the wider team and helping us continually lift the standard of what we offer our customers.

6 REASONS YOU'LL ENJOY WORKING AT MARC & MAIN

- Have genuine creative influence. Help shape our showroom, visual merchandising, product mix and the experience we create for customers.

- Enjoy real work-life balance. Never work late nights, public holidays or Sundays, and only work a short 5-hour Saturday shift.

- Higher, consistent pay. We don't work on commission, which means stable earnings and a more collaborative approach to helping customers.

- Work with beautiful, design-led furniture and homewares. Our collection continues to expand, giving you plenty of scope to create inspiring combinations and displays.

- Generous staff discounts across our entire furniture and homewares range.

- Be part of a small, friendly and dynamic team where good ideas can actually be put into practice.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Customer Consultation & Styling Advice

This isn't about simply waiting for someone to choose a product and processing the sale.

You'll take the time to understand our customers, their homes, personal style and practical requirements, then help them navigate our range and bring their ideas together.

Some customers may simply need help choosing the right dining chair or counter stool. Others may want to discuss an entire dining setting, furniture for several areas of their home, different finishes, materials, proportions and how everything will work together.

You'll ask the right questions, offer knowledgeable and considered advice, and help customers make decisions they feel confident about.

You'll work with both residential and trade customers, including interior designers, stylists, builders, property staging companies and other professionals sourcing furniture for their projects. Residential customers looking for pieces for their own homes will make up the majority of your day-to-day interactions, with trade customers forming a smaller but important part of the role.

Showroom Styling & Visual Merchandising

You'll take genuine ownership of how the showroom is styled and merchandised.

You'll regularly review furniture displays, product combinations, homewares, artwork and accessories and look for opportunities to make the showroom more inspiring, cohesive and easier for customers to shop.

That might involve completely restyling an area, creating current furniture combinations, bringing different categories together or finding better ways to demonstrate how products can work within a customer's home.

We're not looking for someone who simply maintains the displays we've already created. We want someone who naturally looks around and thinks:

"How could we make this better?"

Showroom & Customer Experience

We want you to look at the showroom through the eyes of the customer and continually identify ways we can improve their experience.

That could involve how customers move through the space, how collections are presented, styling inspiration, product information, signage, how trade customers interact with us, or completely recent ideas we haven't considered yet.

You'll have the opportunity to bring those ideas forward and help turn the good ones into reality.

Product & Collection Curation

Our collection is continuing to expand beyond dining furniture into complementary furniture, homewares, artwork and décor.

You'll have genuine input into how that range develops.

Your role may include identifying gaps within the collection, suggesting new product opportunities, providing feedback on products we're considering, helping curate complementary pieces and considering how new products will work alongside our existing range.

Because you'll be spending so much time speaking directly with customers, you'll also have valuable insight into what people are looking for, what they're struggling to find and where there may be opportunities for Marc & Main to improve or expand its offering.

Sharing Your Interiors Knowledge

We want our entire showroom team to continue developing their confidence and knowledge when speaking with customers about interiors.

You'll become an internal resource for the team, sharing your knowledge of furniture, styling, colour, materials, proportions and current interior trends.

That could include helping other consultants understand why certain pieces work well together, discussing emerging styles and trends, or helping the team develop stronger styling conversations with customers.

This isn't about managing or directing other staff. It's about being knowledgeable, collaborative and generous with your expertise, helping lift the interiors capability of the whole team.

Sales & Order Processing

You'll remain a hands-on member of our showroom team, with a significant part of your week spent working directly with customers and helping them find the right pieces for their home.

Alongside providing styling advice, you'll assist with enquiries, check stock availability, process sales, and ensure customer orders are recorded accurately.

Our consultants don't work on commission. The focus is on taking the time to understand each customer's space, style, needs and budget, then helping them make a considered choice they can feel confident about.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

We're looking for someone who combines strong interiors knowledge with excellent people skills, initiative and a practical understanding of what works for customers and the showroom.

You may currently be an experienced furniture or interiors consultant, interior stylist, visual merchandiser, interior designer or working in another design-led retail environment and looking for a role where you can have considerably more influence.

Ideally, you'll have:

- Strong experience in furniture, interiors, homewares, styling or a closely related field.

- Experience in retail sales, hospitality or another customer-facing environment.

- A genuine passion for furniture, interiors and design.

- A strong eye for visual merchandising, proportion, colour, materials and how different products work together.

- The confidence to have deeper styling conversations with customers rather than simply discussing individual products.

- The ability to understand both the aesthetic and practical requirements of a customer's home.

- A good understanding of current and emerging interior styles and trends.

- Initiative and the ability to identify opportunities and bring forward new ideas without waiting to be told what to do.

- An understanding that great styling and merchandising should also make the showroom easier and more inspiring to shop.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to share knowledge with colleagues in a collaborative and respectful way.

- A positive, approachable personality and genuine enjoyment of working with people.

- An interior design, decoration, styling or related qualification would be highly regarded, although strong relevant experience and a natural eye for interiors are just as important.

- The ability to work Saturdays from 11am–4pm.

- Unrestricted working rights in Australia and availability for long-term employment.

Above all, we're looking for someone who wants to take real ownership of the showroom from a styling, merchandising and customer-experience perspective, while working within the Marc & Main brand and overall direction of the business.

You'll have the opportunity to bring forward ideas, share your expertise and influence how we present our collections, develop the range and improve the showroom experience. You'll work collaboratively with the wider team to make sure those ideas are commercially relevant, aligned with our brand and right for our customers.

If you're passionate about interiors but also love working directly with people, this is an opportunity to combine both sides of your skill set in a role where your ideas and experience can make a genuine impact.

DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?

To be considered for this position, you can apply through SEEK.

Alternatively, you're also welcome to stop by our Osborne Park showroom and provide us with a physical copy of your resume Tuesday through Friday. Please ask for Kane.

If you're passionate about interiors, have a strong eye for how a showroom should look and feel, and want the chance to genuinely influence the customer experience, we'd love to hear from you.

ABOUT THE BUSINESS

Marc & Main is an independent, Perth-based furniture retailer specialising in design-led, high-quality furniture that offers genuine value without the premium price tag often associated with designer brands.

Dining furniture remains at the heart of what we do, with Perth's largest selection of dining tables, dining chairs and counter stools. Our collection is continuing to expand across complementary furniture, homewares and décor, helping customers create cohesive and welcoming spaces throughout their homes.

We're a small, close-knit team that's passionate about furniture, interiors and helping customers find the right pieces for their home.

Our showroom consultants don't work on commission. Instead, we take the time to understand each customer's needs and provide knowledgeable, considered advice without unnecessary sales pressure.

Much of our collection is held in stock and available for immediate collection or fast Perth delivery, and every purchase is backed by our 30-day risk-free trial, allowing customers to shop with confidence.

As our range continues to grow, we want the Marc & Main showroom to become an increasingly inspiring place for customers to discover furniture, explore different styles and get knowledgeable advice on creating a home that feels considered, cohesive and unmistakably theirs.
