Expression of Interest – Volunteer Treasurer

Are you a financially savvy professional with a passion for community impact?

Althea Projects is a long established and leading not-for-profit organisation with 60+ employees, based across 4 locations in Townsville, who have been devoted to assisting vulnerable individuals, families and young people since 1974.

We are seeking an experienced and values-driven Treasurer to join our Board on a volunteer basis. This role will be key in supporting the organisation’s financial stewardship, through strategic financial oversight, governance support, whilst also contributing to the broader vision of the organisation.

About the Role

As Treasurer, you will work collaboratively with the Board and senior leadership team to:

• Oversee financial governance and reporting
• Monitor budgets, cash flow, and financial performance
• Support strategic planning and sustainability initiatives
• Ensure compliance with financial and regulatory obligations
• Provide financial insights to support informed decision-making
• Assist in risk management and accountability practices

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

• Strong financial literacy and commercial acumen
• Experience in accounting, finance, or business management (CA/CPA ideally)
• Knowledge of governance and compliance obligations
• Strategic thinking and the ability to interpret financial reports
• A passion for community service and making a difference
• Previous Board or Not-for-Profit experience (desirable but not essential)

You will be required to become an ACNC Responsible Person, hold a valid Blue Card and become licensed with LCS to accept this position.
