Bobcat / Skid Steer Operator – Full Time
Maddington, Perth WA | Full-Time | Immediate Start | Ongoing Work
About Us
Western Maze WA Pty Ltd is a well-established, family-owned and operated company based in Maddington, WA.
We provide essential services to local government throughout the Perth metropolitan area, specialising in verge waste collections and stormwater drainage maintenance.
Due to our ongoing workload, we are looking for an experienced Bobcat / Skid Steer Operator to join our team on a full-time basis.
Previous experience in verge collections is NOT required. We are happy to train the right person in our collection processes. What is important is that you can demonstrate previous experience confidently and safely operating Bobcats and/or other skid steer machinery.
Our primary machines are Huski Bobcats with foot controls, so experience with foot controls would be highly regarded; however, operators experienced with other skid steer controls are encouraged to apply.
The Role
Your primary role will involve operating a Bobcat as part of our verge collection crews, collecting green waste and/or bulk waste from residential verges throughout the Perth metropolitan area.
This is not simply a machine operator position – we are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, looks after their equipment and is comfortable working as part of a small crew.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Operating Bobcats/skid steers safely and efficiently in residential areas
- Loading green waste and bulk waste into collection vehicles
- Working carefully around kerbs, driveways, fences, reticulation and other property
- Completing daily pre-start inspections and required paperwork
- Keeping machinery clean, tidy and well maintained
- Reporting non-compliant waste piles or site issues to supervisors
- Working efficiently with truck drivers and other members of the collection crew
- Meeting reasonable daily operational targets and KPIs
- Assisting in other areas of the business during non-peak collection periods
For the right candidate, there may also be opportunities to drive trucks and work across other areas of our business, providing greater variety and ongoing work throughout the year.
What We're Looking For
To be successful, you will need:
- Demonstrated previous experience operating Bobcats and/or other skid steer machinery
- Confidence operating machinery in residential and confined environments
- A positive, reliable and proactive attitude
- Current Australian C Class Driver's Licence
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Good awareness of your surroundings and a strong focus on avoiding property damage
- Basic literacy and ability to complete daily paperwork
- Ability to follow maps, collection areas and daily work instructions
- Willingness to learn our verge collection procedures
- Willingness to assist in different areas of the company when required
- A good work ethic and willingness to get the job done
- Physical fitness suitable for the requirements of the position
Highly regarded but not essential:
- Experience operating Bobcats with foot controls
- MR or HR Driver's Licence
- Truck driving experience within the Perth metropolitan area
- Experience working around narrow residential streets and confined areas
- Previous waste, civil, earthmoving, construction or local government experience
You do not need previous verge collection experience – training in our collection procedures will be provided.
What We Offer
- Full-time employment
- Immediate start available
- Ongoing, reliable work for the right person
- Variety of work across different areas of the company
- Opportunity for truck driving and additional duties for suitably licensed employees
- Established family-owned WA business
- Support from an experienced operational team
