Werner Engineering is seeking multiple experienced Fitters and Fitter & Turners to join our growing team at our Paget workshop in Mackay.

These are workshop-based positions, offering stable local employment working on a wide variety of heavy mining and industrial equipment while being home every night.

The Roles

We are currently recruiting for

- Qualified Fitters – Multiple Positions

- Qualified Fitter & Turners – Multiple Positions

Key Responsibilities

- Carry out mechanical repairs, maintenance, overhauls and rebuilds.

- Dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble heavy mining equipment.

- Work on crushers, sizers, feeder breakers, gearboxes and other fixed-plant equipment.

- Diagnose faults and identify required repairs.

- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and job cards.

- Conduct accurate measurements and inspections of components.

- Perform fitting, assembly and alignment work.

- Carry out manual machining where required and suitably experienced.

- Ensure completed work meets quality and customer specifications.

- Accurately record job progress and labour hours.





- Maintain a safe, clean and organised work area.

- Work closely with machinists, boilermakers and supervisors to complete jobs efficiently.

What We're Looking For

- Australian-recognised trade qualification as a Fitter, Fitter & Turner or equivalent.

- Strong mechanical fitting and fault-finding skills.

- Experience with heavy mining or industrial equipment is highly regarded.

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

- Robust attention to detail and quality workmanship.

- Reliable and able to work independently and within a team.

- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

- Current Australian driver's licence.
