Best Lives is a not-for-profit disability support organisation that has been providing high-quality specialised disability support services across the Wheatbelt and Perth Metropolitan areas for 40 years. We help our customers to live a great life by living our mission of partnering with people with disabilities and disadvantage to achieve their own goals.
At Best Lives, we have been supporting Western Australians to live their best lives for over 40 years. Operating across 15 locations throughout WA, we provide a range of disability support services, accommodation services, community programs and employment services that empower people to achieve their goals and build meaningful lives.
About the Role
The role will require you to assist individuals to achieve their goals in their NDIS plan, which may include, but not be limited to, social and community participation, independence building, personal care, domestic tasks, and any requirements of the customers as per their individual plan.
We have six individual roles available in the Northam area. Three roles are in Residential Support Work and three are in Community Support Work.
The roster for each role is listed below. Each roster operates on a fixed term model.

Residential Support Worker Positions:
Position 1 - 32.5hrs a week, made up of:
Monday and Tuesday 4pm-8am (sleepover shift)
Thursday and Friday 7:45-4pm (day shift)
Position 2 - 48hrs per fortnight, made up of:
Week 1
Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday 3-9pm (evening shift)
Week 2
Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday 3-9pm (evening shift)
Position 3 - 24hrs per fortnight, made up of:
Week 1
Saturday 4pm-8am (sleepover shift)
Week 2
Thursday and Friday 7am-3pm (day shift)
Community Support Worker Positions:
Position 1 - 25hr fortnight, made up of:
Week 1
Monday 12-5pm
Tuesday 1-4pm
Wednesday 3-6pm
Week 2
Monday 12-5pm
Wednesday 3-6pm
Thursday 10am-4pm
Position 2 - 13hr week, made up of:
Monday 1-4pm
Wednesday 1-5pm
Thursday 8:30-10:30am
Friday 1-5pm
Position 3 - 6.5hr week, made up of:
Thursday 9am-3:30pm
Roster patterns are consistent and predictable. Availability must align with the full roster pattern. This structure ensures better outcomes for customers and a more stable working environment for staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide person-centred support in a residential setting
- Support customers with daily living, routines, and community access
- Assist with medication (as per training and protocols)
- Follow Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSP) where applicable
- Maintain accurate documentation and incident reporting
- Work collaboratively within a team-based environment
About You:
You are reliable, consistent and understand the importance of structure in a residential environment.
- Experience in disability, mental health or community services
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Understanding of NDIS, safeguarding and duty of care
- Current WA Driver’s Licence
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willing to obtain)
- First Aid & CPR
Highly regarded:
- Experience with complex health or behavioural support needs
- Medication competency
- Manual handling experience
