About the Role

An excellent 12-month contract opportunity is available to support a key Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) capability project in Canberra.

We are particularly seeking a strong hands-on engineer with demonstrated expertise in Python, DevOps, AWS, Apache NiFi and CI/CD pipelines.

Immediate starters are highly desirable, and SUPER EXCELLENT CONTRACT RATES are available for the right candidate.

You will work within an agile, highly technical and security-focused environment, delivering reliable, scalable and secure software and cloud solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, build, integrate and document high-quality software solutions aligned with project requirements.

- Undertake significant Python development, scripting and automation.

- Support and enhance DevOps practices, tooling and automation, particularly using Python.

- Work with Apache NiFi within containerised environments.

- Manage, maintain and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines, including resolving complex build and deployment issues.

- Develop and support solutions within Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments.

- Maintain and enhance existing applications to ensure performance, reliability and availability.

- Ensure software quality and security through testing, code reviews and secure development practices.

- Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation.

- Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the technical team.

Essential Technical Skills & Experience

Candidates with strong experience across the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply:

- Strong Python development and scripting experience – ESSENTIAL

- Hands-on DevOps experience, particularly using Python – ESSENTIAL

- Apache NiFi experience within containerised environments – HIGHLY DESIRABLE

- Strong CI/CD pipeline management,



maintenance and troubleshooting experience – ESSENTIAL

- Strong hands-on Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience – ESSENTIAL

- Experience with Linux/UNIX environments

- Experience with containerisation technologies and cloud-based deployments

- Experience using Git-based version control tools such as GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket

- Strong understanding of secure software engineering and development practices

- Experience working within secure Australian Government ICT environments

Desirable Experience

- Background in Cyber Security or related domains

- Experience with automation, deployment and orchestration tools

- Experience with SQL / PL/SQL and data technologies

- Exposure to Hadoop / Apache Spark

- Linux and/or Windows system administration experience

- Experience working within IRAP / ISM-aligned environments

Work Arrangement

- Location: Canberra, ACT

- Contract: 12 months

- Start: Immediate / ASAP

- Work Type: Predominantly onsite in a secure ASD setting

- Hours: Up to 40 hours per week

- Rates: SUPER EXCELLENT / HIGHLY COMPETITIVE CONTRACT RATES

Eligibility & Security Requirements

- Must be an Australian Citizen

- Must hold a current NV1 Security Clearance or higher

- Willingness to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) if required

- Must be available to work in Canberra, ACT
