The Highway Tin Rattle Coordinator is responsible for organising and coordinating the rescue’s highway tin-rattle fundraising days, with a goal of running **8 collections each year**.

The role ensures each collection is well organised, adequately staffed, compliant with any relevant requirements, and communicated clearly to volunteers. The coordinator will work closely with the board and other volunteers to maximise the funds raised from each event

**Key Responsibilities**

**Planning & Coordination**

- Coordinate **8 highway tin-rattle collections per year**.
- Work with the relevant highway/location contact to secure suitable collection dates.
- Maintain a calendar of all planned tin-rattle days.
- Confirm event requirements, locations, times and any relevant permits or approvals.
- Develop a easy plan for each collection well in advance.
- Ensure all required equipment, collection tins, signage and other materials are available.
- Arrange collection and return of equipment before and after each event.

**Volunteer Coordination**

- Advertise upcoming tin-rattle dates to the volunteer team.
- Coordinate volunteer registrations and rosters.
- Ensure there are sufficient volunteers for each collection.
- Provide volunteers with clear information regarding arrival times, locations, parking, safety and expectations.
- Communicate any changes or cancellations to volunteers promptly.




- Follow up with volunteers after each event where required.

**Event Day**

- Act as the primary point of contact for the tin-rattle collection.
- Ensure volunteers know where and when to meet.
- Ensure collection tins and signage are distributed appropriately.
- Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the collection.
- Coordinate the return of tins and equipment following the event.

**Skills & Attributes**

The ideal person will be:

- Highly organised and reliable.
- Comfortable coordinating groups of volunteers.
- Confident communicating with volunteers and external contacts.
- Proactive and able to work independently.
- Good at planning ahead and following tasks through.
- Calm and practical when dealing with unexpected issues.
- Comfortable keeping basic records.
- Friendly and approachable.
- Passionate about supporting animal rescue and fundraising.

We estimate this role will be approximately 40 hours per year.
Each tin rattle is 4 hours, and we would like to run 8 per year. 8 additional hours are estimated for coordinating other volunteers and preparation.

** Training **
We will provide role training as well as a handover manual, and ongoing support from the board of directors.
