About the Role

DIAB Engineering is seeking experienced Site Supervisors to support the delivery of maintenance, shutdown, construction, and project execution works across our mining and resource sector clients.

This role is ideally suited to a motivated and hands-on leader with demonstrated experience supervising site-based mechanical, structural, piping, and construction activities. You will be responsible for leading frontline work crews, coordinating resources, ensuring compliance with safety and quality requirements, and driving project outcomes that exceed client expectations.

Successful candidates will possess strong technical knowledge, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to effectively manage site execution activities in dynamic and challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide leadership and supervision of site-based construction, maintenance, shutdown, and project activities.

- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture through visible leadership and active field engagement.

- Coordinate and supervise tradespeople, subcontractors, and support personnel to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently.

- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with client specifications, project schedules, quality standards, and contractual requirements.

- Conduct pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, hazard identification, and risk assessments.

- Review, interpret, and implement engineering drawings, scopes of work, work packs,



and project documentation.

- Monitor project progress and provide regular reporting to Project Managers and clients.

- Participate in planning activities, resource allocation, and work-front preparation.

- Ensure quality control inspections, ITP compliance, and completion of project documentation.

- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical and operational issues onsite.

- Develop and mentor team members while promoting a high-performance culture.

- Maintain strong client relationships and represent DIAB Engineering in a professional manner.

Skills & Experience

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

- Proven leadership experience supervising mining, shutdown, maintenance, or construction projects.

- Strong commitment to workplace health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance.

- Extensive knowledge of Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) installation activities.

- Sound understanding of mechanical equipment installation, alignment, commissioning, and maintenance practices.

- Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary work crews and subcontractors.

- Ability to effectively manage competing priorities in high-pressure environments.

- Strong planning, scheduling, and execution capabilities.

- Demonstrated experience interpreting engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, and specifications.

- Knowledge of QA/QC processes

- Strong understanding of shutdown execution methodologies and critical path activities.

- Experience in structural steel erection, mechanical equipment installation, piping systems, and fixed plant maintenance.

- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to identify project risks and implement practical mitigation strategies.

- Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of project budgets, labour productivity, and resource utilisation.





- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and project reporting systems.

- Ability to coach, mentor, and develop emerging leaders within the workforce.

- Strong understanding of mining industry standards and client expectations.

Essential Qualifications & Licences

- Mechanical Fitter, Boilermaker/Fabricator, or equivalent recognised trade qualification.

- Minimum 5 years' experience in a supervisory role within the mining, resources, construction, or maintenance sectors.

- Current Section 26 Statutory Supervisor certification (WA).

- Current Working at Heights certification.

- Current Confined Space Entry certification.

- Current Construction White Card.

- Current C Class Driver's Licence.

- High Risk Work Licence (desirable).

- First Aid Certificate (desirable).

- Rio Tinto, BHP, FMG, or other major mining inductions (highly regarded).
