Plenty of organisations treat property maintenance as a cost line. We treat it as part of how people live.

We're a growing community services organisation looking for a practical all-rounder to look after our gardens, properties and vehicle fleet. The places you'll be looking after are homes, lived in by people with disability, and many of the people who call them home spend most of their time there. The work you do helps create places that are safe, welcoming and well cared for.

An overgrown lawn. A gate hanging off its hinges. A door that won't shut properly. A vehicle off the road for a fortnight, meaning someone misses appointments or doesn't get to see family. On their own they might seem like small things, but together they make a real difference to someone's day-to-day life. Gardens that are cared for, homes where things work properly and vehicles that are safe, reliable and ready to go. That's a home someone can be proud of, and a standard of service we're proud to deliver.

The job is the whole place. The gardens, the homes and the vehicles all matter, and each deserves the same care and attention. We're fussy about that because we believe the people we support deserve environments that are safe, welcoming and well maintained. If you take pride in doing the job properly, whatever that job happens to be, you'll play an key part in making that happen.

The work

This is a genuine all-rounder role with three core areas of responsibility. Gardening and grounds maintenance make up around 70% of your week, with the balance spent on property maintenance and helping keep our vehicle fleet safe, reliable and properly serviced. Each part is important and plays a role in keeping our homes, equipment and vehicles in the condition our team and the people we support rely on.

- Gardens and grounds: Mowing, edging, whipper snipping, pruning, weeding, mulching, maintaining garden beds, green waste runs, and keeping every property neat, safe and well presented.





- General maintenance: Minor repairs to gates, fences, doors, taps, screens and fixtures, along with patching, painting, flat-pack assembly and the many small jobs that come with maintaining residential homes. This isn't licensed trade work. Knowing when a job needs a qualified tradesperson is just as important as knowing what you can do yourself.

- Our vehicles: Our vehicles are relied on every day by our team to support the people we work with. You'll carry out regular vehicle checks, monitor tyres, lights, oil and fluid levels, cleanliness and general condition, and identify any damage or maintenance issues early. You'll also keep servicing on schedule, organise servicing and repairs when required, and follow issues through until they've been resolved. You won't be servicing or repairing the vehicles yourself. Your role is to keep on top of them, pick up issues early and make sure servicing, maintenance and repairs happen when they should.

Who we’re after

We're looking for a genuine all-rounder. Not a gardener who puts up with the maintenance, or someone handy who tolerates the gardening. We want someone who enjoys the variety that comes with looking after the whole place and takes pride in doing every part of the job well.

You'll spend a lot of your time working independently, but you'll be part of a team. We have an established schedule and clear priorities, but no two weeks are exactly the same. Gardens keep growing, things break, vehicles need servicing and unexpected jobs come up. The right person is adaptable, communicates well and is happy to adjust when priorities change.





A big part of this role is consistency. It's doing the routine things properly, week after week. Checking a vehicle that's been running perfectly because that's how problems are picked up early. Walking a property you've visited dozens of times and still noticing what's changed. Paying attention to the little things before they become bigger problems. That's the standard we're looking for.

We value people who take ownership. The sort of person who notices a gate starting to sag, fixes it before it gets worse and knows when something needs to be handed over to a qualified tradesperson. Someone who looks after the tools, equipment and vehicles they're responsible for and takes genuine pride in the quality of their work.

You'll also be working at homes where people live, alongside our support workers and occasionally the people we support and their families. You don't need experience in disability services, but you do need to be friendly, respectful and understand that you're working in someone's home. The way you conduct yourself is just as important as the work you do.

The experience we’re looking for in you

We're looking for someone with strong gardening experience, practical maintenance skills and the judgement to identify issues early, whether it's in a garden, around a home or with one of our vehicles.

You'll have:

- Solid experience in gardening, landscaping or grounds maintenance

- Practical handyman skills and the confidence to tackle general property maintenance

- A practical understanding of vehicles and the ability to identify issues that need attention, organise servicing and follow maintenance through to completion

- A current Queensland Driver Licence

- A reasonable level of fitness. This is a hands-on, outdoor role.

Well regarded, but not essential:

- Trade background

- Tickets or licences for small plant and equipment

- Experience working across multiple properties or sites
