About the role

Comprehensive Neurological Care Victoria is seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our team on a permanent part-time basis'; ideal for those who are looking for 4-5 days work a week. Based in North Melbourne VIC 3051, this role is fundamental to the smooth operation of our neurological practice. As Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients and visitors, playing a vital role in creating a welcoming and efficient healthcare environment. You will be responsible for managing patient interactions, administrative tasks, and ensuring our clinic operates seamlessly to support our medical specialists in delivering exceptional neurological care.

Key responsibilities

- Greeting patients and visitors with professionalism and compassion, ensuring a positive first impression

- Managing patient appointments, scheduling, rescheduling and confirming bookings via phone, email and in-person

- Processing patient registrations and updating patient records accurately and confidentially

- Handling patient enquiries and directing them to the appropriate medical staff member or department

- Managing incoming and outgoing telephone calls, taking messages and prioritising urgent matters

- Maintaining organised filing systems and electronic health records in compliance with privacy regulations

- Processing patient accounts, invoicing and handling payments

- Assisting with administrative duties including correspondence, data entry and document preparation

- Ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols and maintaining a clean, welcoming reception area

- Supporting the medical team with general administrative support as required

- Sending out doctor's letters

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a medical receptionist or in a similar healthcare administrative role

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse patient groups





- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively

- Proficiency in using medical practice management software and standard office computer applications

- Knowledge of patient confidentiality requirements and compliance with healthcare privacy legislation such as the Health Records Act

- Professional telephone manner and customer service excellence

- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping

- Ability to remain calm and composed in a busy healthcare setting
