An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced HVAC Project Manager to join a well-established and growing mechanical services contractor based in Sydney.

Operating for more than 30 years, the business has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality commercial HVAC and mechanical services projects across Sydney. With a strong pipeline of secured work and continued growth across the business, they are looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of commercial HVAC projects from initial handover through to commissioning and completion.

This is an opportunity to join a privately owned contractor where you will work closely with the Director and senior management team and have genuine ownership over your projects.

The Role
As HVAC Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful commercial and operational delivery of mechanical projects across Sydney.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Managing commercial HVAC projects from project award through to commissioning and handover
- Reviewing project specifications, drawings, scopes and contractual requirements
- Developing and managing project programmes and ensuring key milestones are achieved
- Managing project budgets, forecasting, costs and overall commercial performance
- Managing procurement of major HVAC equipment and materials
- Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and internal site teams
- Managing variations, progress claims and project documentation
- Liaising directly with builders, consultants, clients, engineers and other project stakeholders
- Reviewing mechanical/HVAC designs and identifying potential constructability issues
- Working closely with the estimating and engineering teams




- Identifying opportunities for value engineering and alternative technical solutions
- Coordinating equipment including VRV/VRF systems, AHUs, FCUs, packaged equipment, ventilation systems, ductwork, pipework and associated mechanical services
- Attending and chairing project and site meetings
- Managing site progress, labour requirements and subcontractor performance
- Ensuring projects comply with relevant Australian Standards, WHS requirements and company procedures
- Managing testing, commissioning, defects and final project handover
- Building strong relationships with clients and contributing to repeat business

Projects The business delivers predominantly commercial mechanical/HVAC projects throughout Sydney, with work across areas including:

- Commercial buildings and office developments
- Government facilities
- Healthcare
- Education
- Retail
- Industrial facilities
- Major refurbishment and upgrade projects
- New-build and fit-out environments

Projects can range from smaller commercial works through to multi-million-dollar mechanical packages, with a strong pipeline of ongoing work.
About You We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have:

- Previous experience as an HVAC Project Manager, Mechanical Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer
- Strong experience working for an HVAC/mechanical contractor




- Proven commercial construction experience
- Experience managing mechanical projects from award through to completion
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical services
- Experience managing budgets, programmes, procurement, subcontractors and variations
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
- Strong understanding of commercial construction processes
- Experience dealing directly with Tier 1/Tier 2 builders, consultants and clients
- Robust leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
- A Mechanical Engineering qualification and/or HVAC trade background would be highly regarded

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who can take ownership of a project.
You should be comfortable making decisions, solving problems, dealing directly with builders and subcontractors, keeping projects commercially on track and ensuring the job is delivered properly.
