About the role

My client is seeking an Underground Geology Superintendent for a Residential or FIFO from Perth on a 5+2 roster.

An exciting new position, as my client transitions into underground production, for an Underground Geology Superintendent to join my clients leadership team.

As Underground Geology Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing underground geological operations, ensuring compliance with best practices, and driving the success of exploration and resource characterisation activities. This role is pivotal in translating geological data into actionable insights that inform mining decisions and optimise resource extraction. You will work on-site, collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain the highest standards of geological management and reporting.

Key responsibilities

- Lead and supervise underground geological teams, providing direction, mentoring, and performance management to ensure team effectiveness and professional development

- Oversee geological mapping, sampling, and data collection activities in underground environments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols

- Monitor and maintain geological databases and systems, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for reporting and analysis purposes

- Conduct geological assessments and provide technical advice to support mine planning, resource estimation, and exploration strategies

- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations specific to underground mining operations and geological work

- Develop and implement geological procedures, standards, and best practices tailored to underground operations

- Collaborate with mining engineers, mine planning teams, and senior management to optimise geological contributions to operational objectives

- Prepare comprehensive geological reports, interpretations, and presentations for stakeholder communication





- Conduct risk assessments related to geological conditions and recommend mitigation strategies

- Manage relationships with external geological consultants and service providers as required

Essential

- Degree in Geology, Geoscience, Mining Geology, or a related discipline from a recognised institution

- Minimum 7-10 years of professional experience in underground geology, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity

- Extensive knowledge of underground geological mapping, sampling methodologies, and ore grade control practices

- Strong technical competency in geological software, databases, and data management systems commonly used in mining operations

- Proven experience in resource estimation, geological modelling, and mine geology applications

- Excellent understanding of mining operations, mine planning processes, and how geology integrates with operational decision-making

- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop geological teams in challenging underground environments

- Strong problem-solving skills with the capacity to work independently and collaboratively across departments

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare transparent technical reports and present findings to stakeholders

- Current or ability to obtain relevant safety certifications (such as First Aid, Mine Safety Awareness, or equivalent)

- Experience with health, safety, and environmental management systems in mining operations is highly desirable

- Knowledge of Western Australian mining regulations and industry standards is advantageous
