This role is for a Speech Pathologist who is interested in developing or deepening their skills in paediatric feeding. Feeding is a core area of practice at Eat Speak Learn, with prospects to work alongside other Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and Dietitians to support children with a range of feeding needs.
This is a predominantly feeding focused caseload working with children presenting with a range of feeding challenges including fussy eating and restricted diets, oral motor and sensory based feeding difficulties and more complex feeding presentations. Depending your preferred hours and experience, your caseload may also include broader paediatric speech pathology presentations such as speech sound disorders, language delays and disorders, early communication and social communication challenges.
You don’t need to be a feeding expert already. We can support you to build your skills through our Paediatric Feeding Career development Program that includes education, 1:1 training, mentoring, clinical reasoning discussions and shadowing.
Responsibilities
Assess children with feeding and/or communication needs
Develop and deliver individualised, evidence-based intervention
Support families with practical strategies to create meaningful change at mealtimes
Monitor progress and adapt intervention based on each child’s needs
Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated care
Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records
Requirements
Degree in Speech Pathology
Certified Practising Speech Pathologist with Speech Pathology Australia, or eligible for certification
An interest in paediatric feeding — previous feeding experience is highly regarded but not essential
This role may be suitable for an experienced feeding clinician or a Speech Pathologist looking for the support and opportunities to develop their expertise in this area.
