POSITION PURPOSE
The Project Manager is responsible for owning the planning, execution and successful delivery of medium to large, complex projects simultaneously; from inception to completion, ensuring they are completed on time, to scope and within budget. This role requires extensive experience in project management, monitoring and governance practice, excellent communication skills, and an understanding of GISIT project delivery and processes. This position will influence and monitor project management practices, governance, resource planning and support continuous improvement to achieve revenue and utilization targets while maintaining high client satisfaction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans,
including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation across multiple workstreams.
Own and monitor project progress and adjust to competing priorities across business areas to ensure successful delivery.
Manage and control budget, risks, change, governance and compliance to ensure delivery objectives are met within tolerances, across multiple work streams.
Influence GP One's delivery decisions, business change and adoption of existing project management practice, methodologies and tools.
Assemble and manage multidisciplinary project teams, plan their allocation to ensure optimal utilisation, lead and guide the project team to achieve project success.
Act as the primary point of contact for client project team and/or business areas, maintaining strong and collaborative relationships to ensure delivery needs and expectations of all parties are aligned and met.
Own regular communication and financial and delivery updates with stakeholders including presentation and reporting to senior executives, sponsors, governance boards and steering committees.
Communicating and working with stakeholders to foster relationships that drive client satisfaction and partnership with our clients.
Maintain accurate traceability and documentation.
Identify, assess and mitigate issues and risks, remove barriers and ensure compliance with project management and governance best practice and frameworks.
Ensure that delivery is in accordance to the vendor and contract requirements.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Experience
Between 5 to 10 years of demonstrated experience in delivering medium to large (>$700K) projects simultaneously, within the GIS or IT industry and StateTerritory Government.
Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
Strong understanding of Information Technology fields.
Robust understanding and application of project management methodologies.
Excellent and demonstrated interpersonal skills in communication, conflict resolution and coaching and mentoring.
Ability to think strategically and make informed decisions under pressure.
Ability to influence others and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, from Executives to functional project team roles.
Exceptional organisational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience with remote teams and virtual collaboration tools.
Excellent project management skills, including proficiency with project management tools.
Understanding of GIS (including Esri products) ideal.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, Information Technology, Geospatial Science, Geography, or a related field is desired.
Recognized certification in PRINCE2 Practitioner. Certification in PMP and/or Agile Project Management is desired.
