Demonstrated ability to support others in using data to inform teaching practice and to provide feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.

Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents and the broader school community focused on student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement.

Role
Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school. Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others.
Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school¿s education program. Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school.



A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals.
Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the School Improvement Team (SIT) to lead implementation of the Strategic Plan, Annual Implementation Plan and DE initiatives for sustained improvement in student learning outcomes and whole school improvement and on the provision of a viable and guaranteed curriculum though consistent documentation and provision
Communicate the school vision and leadership decisions to the school community in a manner that represents a united response to initiatives and issues
Role model, support and encourage ongoing professional learning in colleagues by leading a Qualified Practice Team and supporting staff with their Statement of Expectation
Continually monitor student achievement and available data to develop approaches to optimize student engagement and achievement
Actively promote and implement the revised VTLM 2.0 and oversee the Victorian Curriculum, including the Capabilities
Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the Leader of Assessment and Reporting and Learning Area Leaders, on WHSC Assessment policy
Meet regularly with the Assistant Principals and Principal who have oversight of Learning and Teaching
Monitor current trends in education and curriculum-related Department of Education Policies.
Participate and collaborate in external events and CoPs that support T&L; at WHSC
Monitor Compass folders relating to Teaching and Learning
Specific Duties of the Learning and TEACHING LEADER
Oversee that WHSC has a guaranteed and viable Curriculum
Collaborate on updating of documents such as the WHSC Learning and Teaching Model and the WHSC Handbook (Guide to Practice).
Lead the creation and monitoring of Curriculum documentation across the Learning Areas
Collaborate in the creation of key policies, including scope and sequence documentation, Curriculum Policy and other polices relating to
