About the Client
The client has a diagnosis of:
Muscular Dystrophy
ADHD
Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
The client also has
AOD-related support needs
, so experience working within the AOD space and with young people experiencing complex or challenging circumstances is highly valued.
About the Role
You will provide support with:
Community access and participation
Building independence and life skills
Emotional and behavioural support
Positive social engagement
Supporting routines and daily activities
Physical support associated with Muscular Dystrophy
Working within the client's individual support and behaviour plans
Maintaining a calm, respectful and trauma-informed approach
About You
We are seeking a
First Nations Support Worker
who:
Has experience working with
young people
Has experience in the
AOD sector or supporting people with AOD-related needs
Understands
trauma-informed care
Has experience supporting people with
ASD, ADHD and complex behaviours
Is confident working with young people who may experience emotional dysregulation or challenging behaviours
Is patient, calm, consistent and non-judgemental
Can build trust and develop a positive professional relationship
Understands the importance of
cultural safety and connection
Is reliable and committed to providing consistent support
Essential Requirements
First Nations Australian
Previous experience working with
young people
Experience in
AOD, youth work, community services, mental health or a similar environment
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Working with Children Check
Current First Aid & CPR
Ability to provide trauma-informed, person-centred support
Relevant experience supporting people with complex needs
Certificate III/IV in Individual Support, Youth Work, Community Services, Mental Health or a related qualification will be highly regarded.
