Role Description
This is a casual, on-site Support Worker position based in Newcastle, NSW.As a Support Worker, you will provide day-to-day assistance to NDIS participants across community access, employment preparation and support, and the development of daily living and life skills. You will work closely with participants to help them achieve their goals while promoting choice, dignity, independence, and social inclusion.Key responsibilities include:Providing personal care and in-home support as required.Supporting participants to access community activities, education, employment, and recreational opportunities.Assisting with transport to appointments, programs, and social activities.Implementing individualised support plans and supporting participants to achieve their goals.Maintaining accurate and timely documentation,



including progress notes and incident reports.Collaborating with participants, families, carers, and other members of the support team.Promoting a safe, respectful, and empowering setting for all participants.Maintaining professional boundaries and adhering to NDIS Practice Standards, Quality Indicators, and safeguarding requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate will possess:Experience in disability support, community services, aged care, or a related care environment, preferably supporting NDIS participants.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive, respectful, and trusting relationships.A commitment to person-centred practice and supporting participant choice, autonomy, and independence.The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to follow support plans, complete documentation, and manage competing priorities.Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, Community Services, or a related field (or a willingness to work towards completion) is highly regarded.Current First Aid and CPR certification.A current driver's licence and access to a reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle suitable for participant transport.A valid NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (where required).A willingness to comply with all NDIS requirements and organisational policies and procedures.Confidence using technology for communication, rostering, incident reporting, and electronic record-keeping, including smartphone applications, email, and client management systems.
