About the Role
We're seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our Engineering Design Team, specialising in the design and optimisation of
custom truck bodies
. You'll support ongoing vehicle modification projects for various industries, contributing to the
continuous improvement and innovation
of our custom truck builds and product line.
This hands-on position gives you the opportunity to follow your designs from
initial concept through to finished build
, working closely with a dedicated and collaborative team committed to quality and precision.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the design and production of truck bodies, toolboxes and towing components.
Ensure designs meet ADR, NHVR, and NSW compliance standards.
Collaborate with workshop and fabrication teams to refine prototypes and production models.
Modify and update designs in line with client feedback and site requirements.
Manage drawing documentation, BOMs, and revision control.
Produce detailed engineering drawings using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T;) standards to ensure manufacturability.
Conduct FEA and engineering calculations to validate designs.
Assist the sales team with quotations, costings, and technical input.
Provide engineering support during refurbishments and repairs.
Maintain adherence to engineering best practices, safety standards, and internal procedures.
What We're Looking For
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Drafting/Engineering (or equivalent).
Proficiency in Solidworks.
Strong desire to invent, test and optimise is highly regarded.
Previous experience in vehicle design or heavy vehicle modification is desirable.
Competency with mechanical design principles.
Understanding of steel fabrication methods.
Attention to detail and self-starting initiative in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
