About the Role
This is a hands-on HR & Payroll role reporting directly to the Managing Director, with full accountability across payroll, the employee lifecycle, and employee relations. You'll work across both strategic and operational HR, partnering with leaders while remaining closely involved in the day-to-day to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance are consistently delivered.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end payroll (weekly/fortnightly), ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness
Interpret awards, contracts, allowances, and entitlements
Oversee STP, superannuation, payroll tax, and reporting obligations
Maintain data integrity and resolve payroll discrepancies
Manage recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes
Prepare contracts, documentation, and HR records
Coordinate apprenticeships, including RTO and compliance requirements
Manage leave, HR queries, and system administration
Manage Workcover and return to work




Act as the go-to for ER matters across the business
Support managers with performance, conduct, and investigations
Manage grievances and ensure fair, compliant outcomes
Contribute to workforce planning and HR strategy
Drive improvements across HR systems, processes, and compliance
Support performance reviews and development initiatives
What We're Looking For
Proven experience in a HR Generalist / HR Manager role with payroll ownership
Solid understanding of Australian employment law, Fair Work, and award interpretation
End-to-end payroll experience (including STP, super, tax, and reporting)
Confident handling employee relations, investigations, and performance management
Ability to operate both strategically and hands‐on
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Experience in construction, manufacturing, or trade-based environments (highly regarded)
Exposure to apprenticeships, Q-Leave, or similar schemes (highly regarded)
Experience with Employment Hero and developing it to streamline business processes
