This is a
four‐year apprenticeship
that blends structured on‐the‐job training with formal TAFE study, giving you the best of both worlds. You'll work shoulder‐to‐shoulder with seasoned, qualified Tradespersons, building the practical skills and technical know‐how to maintain, repair, and optimise cutting‐edge manufacturing plant machinery, all while earning a nationally recognised trade qualification.

What you'll be doing
As a key member of our Maintenance team, you'll dive into a diverse range of hands‐on mechanical activities, including:
Assisting with planned preventative maintenance on casting machines and automated cells
Learning to troubleshoot and repair mechanical faults to keep the factory firing at full speed
Assisting with the alignment and maintenance of pumps, couplings, and gearboxes
Replacing and maintaining components such as bearings, seals, chains, and belts
Learning to operate workshop machinery, including lathes, mills, and drills
Manufacturing and modifying components directly from engineering drawings
Developing foundational manual arc, MIG, and TIG welding skills for minor fabrication work
Following site safety requirements, including JSAs and lock‐out/tag‐out (LOTO) procedures
Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe workplace in line with 5S practices
Attending scheduled TAFE classes, completing coursework, and keeping your practical training logbook up to date
What we're looking for
We want someone who is genuinely passionate about becoming a Mechanical Fitter and is ready to soak up knowledge from an experienced, supportive team. The ideal candidate will bring:
A minimum of Year 10 completion, with Year 12 preferred
A Certificate II in Engineering (Pre‐Apprenticeship) is highly regarded
Strong mechanical aptitude and a natural curiosity about how machinery works
Solid basic mathematical and problem‐solving skills
Great verbal communication skills and the confidence to speak up when you need clarity
A reliable, punctual, and consistent approach to showing up and getting things done
A genuine willingness to listen, learn, and follow instructions
A positive, collaborative attitude and the ability to thrive within a multicultural team
A respectful and patient approach when working with colleagues and internal customers
A strong commitment to workplace safety and 5S practices
What you need to know
This is a energetic, physical role set within a fast‐paced manufacturing environment. You'll need to be comfortable with hands‐on work including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods, as well as operating confidently within a busy industrial setting.
You'll also need to be
available to work either day or afternoon shift depending on business requirements
