Your new company Hays Recruitment are partnering with a Queensland Government department to recruit an AO5 Procurement Officer.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative regional team supporting the delivery of key infrastructure and investment programs across the region.
Your current role As the AO5 Procurement Officer, you will provide procurement advice and deliver end-to-end procurement and contract administration activities in line with departmental policies and governance frameworks.
In this role, you will:
Coordinate and monitor the provision of timely, accurate, and relevant procurement advice in accordance with departmental procurement policies and governance frameworks.
Manage end-to-end procurement activities, including procurement planning, documentation, evaluation processes, supplier negotiations, contract preparation, and establishment of supply arrangements.
Provide qualified advice and support to internal clients regarding procurement processes and requirements
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to share knowledge, improve business processes, and drive procurement best practice
Support successful business outcomes through effective resource utilisation, performance monitoring, analysis, and reporting
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
Provide contract administration support, including contract establishment, management of variations, and processing of progress payments across infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects
Ensure the timely creation and processing of purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and invoices through departmental systems
Deliver financial administration services, including accounts payable, accounts receivable,
and monthly reconciliations
Utilise a range of systems and software packages, including SAP, 3PCM, and Microsoft Excel, to support procurement and financial management functions
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support broader team objectives as required
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring demonstrated experience in procurement, contract administration, and stakeholder engagement, along with the ability to operate effectively within governance and compliance frameworks.
To be successful, you will have:
Demonstrated experience in procurement and contract administration
Strong knowledge of procurement policies, procedures, and governance requirements
Experience delivering end-to-end procurement activities and providing stakeholder advice
Sound financial administration skills, including accounts payable and receivable
Experience using procurement and financial systems, ideally SAP and Microsoft Excel
Strong communication, organisational, and relationship management skills
A proactive approach with a focus on accountability, compliance, and customer service
