This industry-leading organisation specialises in the manufacture and assembly of advanced cooling systems used in large-scale data centre environments.
Due to continued growth and increasing demand, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Plumbing Quality Assurance Lead to join their workshop operation.
Your new role
Working within a manufacturing and assembly environment, you will take ownership of the quality assurance function across the assembly line for mechanical cooling systems.
These systems are critical components within modern data centre infrastructure, including facilities supporting emerging AI technologies.
Reporting to the Assembly Manager, you will provide quality oversight and technical support to assembly teams, ensuring products are built to specification, meet quality standards and maintain compliance requirements.
While this is not a people management position with direct reports, you will provide QA leadership and guidance to a team of approximately 4-6 assembly personnel.
The role is primarily inspection and quality-focused, with occasional hands-on involvement during peak production periods.
Key responsibilities
Leading quality assurance activities across the assembly line
Inspecting mechanical plumbing assemblies and cooling system components
Monitoring compliance with drawings, specifications and quality standards
Providing technical support and guidance to assembly teams
Identifying and resolving quality issues during production
Conducting quality inspections,
audits and reporting activities
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the workshop
Assisting with hands-on assembly work when required
The standard working hours are 6:00am - 2:00pm Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute break.
Overtime opportunities are regularly available.
What you'll need to succeed
Mechanical plumbing experience with a robust understanding of cooling system flow and operation
Certificate III in Plumbing (essential)
Experience in quality assurance, quality control, inspections or workshop supervision
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Experience working within manufacturing, fabrication, assembly or industrial environments
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment functional medical assessment and potential drug and alcohol screening
Previous experience in a lead or supervisory capacity will be highly regarded
