Your new company A well-established organisation operating across multiple Australian states is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join its collaborative payroll team.
Working within a fast-paced setting, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate payroll services to a large and diverse workforce while contributing to ongoing payroll operations and process improvements.
Your new role Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will join a team of four payroll professionals and take ownership of end-to-end payroll processing across a complex workforce.
This position offers an immediate start, initially on a temporary basis, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
Key responsibilities
Processing weekly and fortnightly payrolls for approximately 800 employees
Managing payroll across multiple Australian states
Interpreting and applying multiple Enterprise Agreements and Awards
Processing payroll for both blue-collar and white-collar workforces
Managing payroll queries and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
Ensuring compliance with payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and award requirements
Assisting with payroll reporting,



reconciliations and end-of-period activities
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within payroll processes
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Previous experience as a Senior Payroll Officer or highly experienced Payroll Officer
Proven experience managing complex, high-volume payrolls
Strong understanding of Awards, Enterprise Agreements and payroll legislation
Experience processing payrolls across multiple states
Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities
