This opportunity sits within a specialist function supporting the NSW Government Legal Services Panel, a whole-of-government arrangement connecting agencies with external legal providers across 30 areas of legal specialisation.
The Panel was used by 188 government and public-sector agencies during FY******* and provides an important framework for achieving value for money, governance and consistent procurement of external legal services.

About the Role This is an opportunity for an experienced Legal Administration, Panel Support or Government Administration skilled to join a specialist team responsible for supporting a significant whole-of-government external legal services arrangement.
Working closely with panel management, finance and data and reporting stakeholders, you will help maintain accurate information, coordinate reporting and invoices, support stakeholder engagement and ensure the smooth day-to-day administration of legal service providers.
The position combines administration, data validation, financial support, reporting and stakeholder coordination, making it well suited to someone who enjoys working with detail while managing relationships across government and external professional services firms.
Position : Legal Clerk - $550-$600/day + super Location : Sydney CBD Working Arrangement : Hybrid, office day Tuesdays and Thursdays Start Date : ASAP Duration : Until 11 December ****, with strong possible extension Application Window : closing soon Key Responsibilities Support the day-to-day administration and governance of a whole-of-government legal services panel.
Maintain accurate panel, supplier, legal matter and reporting information across relevant systems and registers.
Collect, review and validate monthly and quarterly information submitted by external legal service providers.
Assist with the review and processing of supplier invoices and identify discrepancies requiring investigation.
Support the preparation of legal expenditure,
matter and supplier performance reports for management and government stakeholders.
Assist with dashboards, annual reporting and regular management reporting by compiling and checking source data.
Monitor data quality and follow up missing, incomplete or inconsistent information with relevant stakeholders.
Create, maintain and retrieve electronic records and documentation in accordance with NSW Government records management requirements.
Liaise professionally with NSW Government agencies, external law firms, finance teams and internal stakeholders.
Coordinate meetings, stakeholder forums, training sessions and other panel-related activities.
Prepare correspondence, briefing material, spreadsheets, presentations and routine reports.
Maintain registers, meeting records, action items and supporting documentation.
Assist with procurement and compliance activities associated with engaging external legal services.
Apply relevant NSW Government procurement requirements, panel rules, policies and delegations when supporting panel activities.
Support financial reconciliation and legal cost reporting by working closely with finance and reporting stakeholders.
Respond to routine panel enquiries and escalate complex compliance, commercial or operational matters appropriately.
Identify opportunities to streamline administrative, reporting and data collection processes.
Maintain confidentiality when handling commercially sensitive, legal and government information.
Manage competing priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Contribute to collaborative team outcomes and provide responsive support during periods of high reporting or administrative demand.
About You You will bring strong administration and analytical capability, ideally gained within government, legal services, procurement, professional services or another highly regulated environment.
Demonstrated experience providing administrative, analytical, reporting or operational support within a complex organisation.
Previous NSW Government experience is highly regarded.
Experience within legal administration, panel management, procurement, contract administration or professional services is desirable.
Understanding of NSW Government procurement frameworks, governance requirements or supplier panel arrangements is highly desirable.
Experience working with external suppliers, professional services firms or government stakeholders.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills with confidence reviewing, validating and reconciling data.
Proficiency across Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Experience preparing reports, correspondence, registers and management information.
Strong attention to detail and an ability to identify data discrepancies or incomplete information.
Sound numerical capability and confidence working with invoices, expenditure information and financial data.
Valuable records and document management practices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities with limited supervision.
A proactive and organised approach with sound judgement and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and within a cooperative team environment.
Relevant qualifications in business administration, legal services, procurement, finance, commerce or a related discipline will be viewed favourably.
Familiarity with NSW Government procurement policies or public-sector compliance environments will be advantageous.
Candidates must hold valid working rights in Australia.

Australian Permanent Residents, Australian Citizens and candidates holding suitable long-term Australian working visas are required.
