University of Sheffield's Thermofluids Group invites applications for a PhD project focused on high-pressure mechanical seals for hydrogen storage and CO2 capture technologies. You will develop 3D digital models, run CFD simulations of gas film flow, and couple CFD with structural models to assess seal performance under real-world conditions.
Collaboration with Leonardo Centre for Tribology and John Crane Ltd provides robust experimental and industrial context.
