Northpoint Eye Care is a well-established specialist ophthalmology practice located in North Lakes. We are seeking a motivated and caring Ophthalmic Technician + Admin, to join our warm, supportive team on a full-time basis.
The primary focus of this role is ophthalmic clinical support and diagnostic testing, with additional responsibility for medical reception and administrative duties. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ophthalmic or optical assistant looking to further develop their clinical and admin skills.
You will work closely with our Ophthalmologists and clinical team to provide a high standard of patient care while helping ensure the smooth and efficient running of our clinics.
What you'll be doing
Ophthalmic clinical duties – primary role:
Taking patient medical histories and preparing patients for consultation
Performing and assisting with ophthalmic diagnostic testing, including:
Visual acuity (VA)
iCare tonometry
Auto-refraction
Optical coherence tomography (OCT)
Humphrey Field Analyzer (HFA)
Fundus photography
Optical biometry
Assisting Ophthalmologists with minor procedures
Preparing clinical rooms and instruments
Cleaning, sterilising and preparing clinical instruments
Maintaining clinic room standards and supporting efficient patient flow
Monitoring clinical stock levels and notifying relevant staff when supplies need to be reordered
Reception and administrative duties as required:
Welcoming and checking in patients
Answering phone and email enquiries professionally and efficiently
Booking appointments and managing doctor schedules
Processing referrals and incoming correspondence
Processing billing and Medicare rebates
Learning, training & professional development

with the opportunity to progressively expand your clinical knowledge and ophthalmic testing skills.
With opportunities to receive training in additional areas of ophthalmic clinical support, diagnostic equipment and minor procedures.

What we're looking for
Ideally, you will have:
Previous experience working in anophthalmology or optometry practice
Experience performing ophthalmic diagnostic testing, or a solid willingness and ability to learn
A minimum of 2 years' experience is desirable
Previous medical or specialist reception experience is desirable
Experience with minor procedures and/or sterilisation is highly desirable
Familiarity with Best Practice VIP or similar medical software
Strong computer and typing skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A warm, professional and caring approach to patient care
Strong organisation, time management and attention to detail
The ability to work confidently in a busy, fast-paced environment
An understanding of the importance of patient flow and maintaining a positive patient experience
Reliability, initiative and a proactive, can-do attitude
The flexibility to work staggered shifts, including occasional early starts and/or later finishes
A genuine interest in learning and developing your ophthalmic skills
The ability to work collaboratively as part of a close-knit team
