The Suburban Land Agency (SLA) is seeking an experienced and collaborative Senior Director, Commercial Ventures Strategy to play a key role in delivering innovative commercial arrangements that help create great places where people live, work and thrive.
Reporting to the Program Manager, Commercial Strategy, you will be a trusted advisor and strategic partner, helping to structure and deliver complex divestment and investment opportunities across the Agency's portfolio. This is a unique chance to work at the intersection of government, industry and community, influencing major projects that contribute to Canberra's growth and prosperity.

About the Role
As the Senior Director, you will support a diverse range of commercial ventures, including:
Englobo land releases
Joint ventures and joint operations
Public-private partnerships (PPPs)
Strategic partnerships and investment arrangements
Other innovative commercial delivery models
You will provide high-level commercial advice, help evaluate opportunities, support governance and stakeholder engagement activities,



and work closely with project teams to identify solutions that balance financial, social, environmental and land supply outcomes.
This role offers the opportunity to engage with senior leaders across government and industry while contributing to projects that deliver meaningful outcomes for the ACT community.
What You'll Be Doing
You will:
Support complex divestment and commercial venture processes through strategic commercial and contract advice.
Work with the Program Manager and Place Delivery teams to identify and assess new commercial opportunities and investor diversification strategies.
Collaborate across SLA to evaluate projects against established commercial venture frameworks.
Provide expert advice on governance, commercial structures, risk management and partnership arrangements.
Support Board members, Territory representatives and project teams involved in joint ventures and commercial agreements.
Build productive relationships with government agencies, statutory authorities, industry partners and community stakeholders.
Contribute to procurement activities and the engagement of specialist internal and external expertise.
Help strengthen knowledge-sharing, capability and continuous improvement across the Commercial Ventures Program.

Note:
This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of two years with the possibility of permanency.
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
This position is located in a workplace designated for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
