Leading Hand Carpenter – Full Time
RJ Nelson Constructions is looking for an experienced and reliable Qualified Carpenter / Leading Hand Carpenter to join our growing team.
We undertake a range of residential and commercial carpentry projects throughout Sydney, including decks, pergolas, framing, cladding, fix-out works, renovations and general carpentry packages.
This role would suit a qualified carpenter who is confident in their trade, comfortable taking responsibility for day-to-day site activities and looking to step into, or continue developing in, a leading hand position.
About the Role
As a Leading Hand Carpenter, you will work on the tools while also assisting with the day-to-day coordination of projects and a small team.
Your responsibilities will include:
Performing high-quality carpentry works across a variety of residential and commercial projects
Leading and working alongside a small team, generally consisting of 1–2 other employees
Coordinating day-to-day site activities and allocating tasks
Organising materials, deliveries and site requirements
Communicating professionally with builders, clients, subcontractors and suppliers
Reading and interpreting plans, drawings and specifications
Identifying and resolving site issues as they arise
Maintaining quality workmanship and attention to detail
Supporting apprentices and other team members with their development
Maintaining a safe, organised and professional worksite
Working collaboratively with the Director and the wider team
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will be a confident and capable carpenter who can take responsibility when required while still being willing to listen to ideas and input from the rest of the team.
We are looking for someone who:
Holds a Certificate III in Carpentry
Holds a current White Card
Holds a current driver's licence
Has their own reliable vehicle
Ideally has 2–3+ years' experience as a qualified carpenter
Has strong practical carpentry knowledge and problem-solving skills
Is confident communicating with builders, clients and other trades
Can organise their own work and assist with coordinating a small team
Takes pride in the quality of their workmanship
Is reliable, organised and able to work independently when required
Works well as part of a team and is respectful of the knowledge and input of other employees
Is willing to continue learning and developing professionally
Hours & Location
Full-time position – 38 hours per week
Standard hours are generally 7:00 am to 3:00 pm
Projects are located throughout Sydney
Occasional overtime and Saturday work may be required
Occasional projects may require working away from home
Any applicable overtime, travel and working-away-from-home entitlements will be paid in accordance with the applicable workplace laws and award requirements.
Pay & Benefits
$*****–$***** per hour, depending on experience and capability
