About the role
Join Austin's Kewdale workshop as the Subject Matter Expert for all lifting operations.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you'll supervise complex crane lifts, maintain rigging compliance, and mentor the broader workshop team - in a permanent, full time role with consistent hours and strong earnings potential.
This role plays a critical part in the manufacture of large mining equipment, including the safe turning and handling of heavy buckets, trays, and fabricated structures.
Candidates with previous MEM (Manufacturing and Engineering) industry experience will be well suited, as they will understand the lifting challenges, fabrication processes, and safety requirements associated with large-scale workshop operations.
Duties
· Supervise complex crane lifts and rigging operations safely and efficiently
· Maintain rigging gear, lifting procedures, and pre-lift documentation
· Conduct load assessments and ensure OHS compliance on every lift
· Train less experienced staff in basic lifting requirements
· Operate forklift and support workshop operations when not rigging
Skills & experience
· Advanced Rigger HRWL (RA) — essential
· MEM experience - essential
· EWP and Forklift High Risk Work Licence - essential
· Experience in heavy steel manufacturing or mining equipment fabrication
· Current Driver's Licence (Heavy Rigid preferred)
· Strong safety leadership and willingness to stop unsafe work
