What's the Role:
As a Leading Hand, you'll be responsible for managing day-to-day production activities and labour resources within the manufacturing area, ensuring products are produced safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
You'll lead a team of Boilermakers, Trade Assistants, and Operators while supporting the achievement of production schedules and on-time delivery targets.
Working closely with the Operations Supervisor, you'll promote a zero-harm culture, coordinate labour and materials, support continuous improvement initiatives, and provide leadership and mentoring to your team.
Your Impact:
• Lead and supervise a manufacturing team of approximately ***** employees to achieve production targets safely and efficiently.
• Coordinate labour, materials, consumables, and equipment to meet production schedules.
• Promote and maintain Bradken's Zero Harm safety culture through active leadership and compliance with safety procedures.
• Monitor product quality and ensure customer requirements are consistently met.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, productivity, quality, and cost performance.
• Mentor, coach, and develop employees through multiskilling and on-the-job training.




• Monitor production performance and provide data and feedback to support operational decision-making.
• Foster positive employee engagement and effective communication across the workshop and broader site operations.
• Escalate safety, production, and personnel issues appropriately and in a timely manner.
You Bring:
Essential:
• Trade qualification (Certificate III or Certificate IV)
• Leadership experience within an engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environment
• Experience using hand and power tools and machine setup activities
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
• Ability to lead, motivate, mentor, and develop team members
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general computer systems.
• Physically fit and able to work on your feet for extended periods.
Preferred:
• Certificate III in Engineering or Manufacturing Processes
• Certificate IV in Frontline Management
• Forklift Licence
• Experience with welding, grinding, drilling, or press operations
• Knowledge of OHS, Environmental and Quality System requirements.
