An established Australian healthcare design and construction business is entering an exciting new chapter and is looking for a Chief Operating Officer to help lead it.

With more than 20 years in the market and thousands of projects delivered nationally, the business has built a strong reputation for quality healthcare environments. Its focus is now evolving from traditional private practice fit-outs into larger, technically complex medical hubs and major developer partnerships.

This is a newly created C-suite role with genuine influence. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will bring together Design, Pre-Construction and Project Delivery, creating the structure, accountability and commercial discipline needed to scale successfully.

The Opportunity
The business has ambitious growth plans, and the COO will be central to turning those plans into reality.
Your mandate will be to ensure projects move seamlessly from sale through to delivery, with profitability, quality, safety and client experience protected at every stage.

You will:

- Lead the Design, Pre-Construction and Delivery functions and their senior teams.
- Establish clear operating rhythms, systems and accountability across the project lifecycle.
- Protect gross margins and identify opportunities to eliminate commercial leakage.
- Strengthen the transition from sales into delivery, giving clients and the commercial team confidence in execution.
- Elevate the organisation's approach to managing major corporate, healthcare and developer clients.
- Drive rigorous safety, quality,



programme and performance standards.
- Build capability and accountability while preserving the business's strong people-first culture.
- Stay close to the operation through regular site visits, project reviews and engagement with teams.
- Partner with the Managing Director and leadership team on the broader business strategy.

This is a high-level leadership role with a genuine connection to the operation - approximately 80% strategic and operational leadership, balanced with regular time on site and with the teams delivering the work.

What We're Looking For
We are looking for a proven commercial construction leader who knows what it takes to deliver complex projects profitably and build a high-performing operation around them.
Your career may have progressed from Project Manager into Operations Manager, General Manager or an equivalent senior leadership position.

You will bring:

- Strong commercial construction experience, ideally across complex projects and multiple delivery streams.
- A demonstrated track record of operational leadership and financial accountability.
- The ability to introduce structure and discipline without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Solid commercial judgement and confidence working with project financials, reporting and performance data.
- A visible, decisive leadership style and the ability to earn trust quickly.
- The maturity to challenge established ways of working while respecting the strengths of an owner-led business.
