We are seeking an experienced, skilled and solutions-focused School Technical Officer to join our school community and support the effective operation of our information and communication technology (ICT) services. Working closely with school leadership, staff and students, you will provide technical support, maintain ICT infrastructure and help maximise the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning. This is an opportunity to use your technical expertise in a role that directly supports teaching, learning and student outcomes. Urangan State High School is located in picturesque Hervey Bay, as part of the Department of Education's North Coast Region, and has been serving the community of Hervey Bay since 1992. Hervey Bay city has continued its strong growth with the population skyrocketing from some 30,000 in 1991 to over 63,000 in 2021.
Trends show this growth rate - one of Australia's highest - will continue well into the next century.
The Fraser Coast Regional Council continues to focus on planning for growth, with intensive town planning, exciting urban designs, and upgraded infrastructure.
Urangan State High School sits at the heart of the rapidly developing suburban communities of Kawungan, Torquay, and Urangan as well as the semi rural areas of Booral and River Heads.
Your prospect:
- Provide technical advice and support across the school's ICT environment.
- Assist with the installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of ICT equipment and systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues for staff and students with a strong customer-service focus.
- Support servers, networks, computers, laptops, iPads, printers and other electronic equipment.
- Undertake preventative maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Assist staff with training and the effective use of ICT tools in education.
- Maintain accurate technical records and documentation.
- Support network infrastructure and contribute to network security.
- Work with Regional and Central Support teams on technical matters.
- Research and implement creative and effective solutions to technology problems.
- Provide advice on ICT purchasing and maximising the value of technology within the school.
- Perform other duties consistent with the role as directed by the supervisor.
- Working in a school environment preferred.
