The Opportunity

Psychology has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Senior Research Officer to contribute to an interactive web platform showcasing three Huntington's disease neuroimaging machine-learning models. The position will design, build and document a responsive, serverless platform enabling Python-based models, including scikit-learn, LightGBM and PyTorch, to be demonstrated through browser-based inference. The role will provide specialist expertise across web development, machine learning deployment and interactive visualisation to deliver an accessible and engaging research platform.

The position will undertake model conversion and deployment using technologies such as ONNX Runtime Web, JavaScript and WebAssembly, while developing interactive controls and 3D visualisations. Responsibilities include validating browser-based outputs against Python reference predictions, benchmarking performance, testing cross-browser compatibility and optimising application performance. The role will maintain a structured GitHub repository, establish automated deployment workflows, develop user and developer documentation and deliver technical handover, while contributing to project planning and milestone management.

We are seeking someone with a relevant degree and extensive experience,



with demonstrated skills in open-source research software, responsive web development, scientific data visualisation and browser-based machine-learning deployment. Strong Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS and Git/GitHub skills, together with experience in testing and automated deployment are also highly relevant. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organisational and communication skills are important, with experience in 3D visualisation, medical or neuroimaging, or health-related web design highly regarded.
