As a HR Business Partner within HR Centre Services, you will provide expert human resource advice and solutions to correctional centre managers and senior leaders across Queensland's custodial environment. Working in a dynamic operational setting, you will partner with stakeholders to deliver practical, risk-based and contemporary HR solutions across workforce management, employee relations, performance and conduct, attendance management, organisational change, workforce planning and capability development.
You will build strong relationships with correctional centres and operational leaders, influence positive workforce outcomes, and contribute to the delivery of strategic workforce initiatives that support Queensland Corrective Services' vision of a secure, secure and professional correctional system.

The People Capability Command is responsible for delivering contemporary people services and workforce solutions that enable Queensland Corrective Services (QCS) to achieve its strategic objectives. Supporting a workforce of approximately 7,000 employees, our teams work closely with operational leaders to build capability, manage workforce challenges and deliver positive people outcomes.
As a HR Business Partner (AO7) within HR Centre Services,
you will providespecialist human resources advice and strategic workforce support to correctional centres and custodial operational leaders across Queensland.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys partnering with leaders, solving complex workforce issues and influencing organisational outcomes in a large and diverse operational environment.
What you will do
In this role, you will:
- Partner with correctional centre leadership teams and senior managers to provide high-quality, solution-focused HR advice.
- Deliver expert guidance across employee relations, workforce management, attendance management, performance management, organisational change, recruitment, workforce planning and people capability initiatives.
- Interpret and apply legislation, industrial instruments, directives, policies and procedures to support sound decision making and manage organisational risk.
- Develop trusted relationships with operational stakeholders and influence positive workforce outcomes.
- Analyse workforce trends and data to identify emerging issues and opportunities and recommend practical solutions.
- Prepare briefings, reports, submissions and correspondence on complex workforce matters.
- Support the implementation of workforce projects and organisational initiatives that strengthen capability and improve service delivery.
- Contribute to a collaborative and professional HR team culture focused on delivering responsive, client-centred services.

We are seeking a proactive and experienced HR practitioner who can work confidently with operational leaders and navigate complex workforce matters in a fast-paced environment.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Strong generalist HR knowledge and the ability to interpret and apply legislation, industrial frameworks, policies and procedures.
- Experience providing strategic and operational HR advice in a large, complex organisation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Strong communication, negotiation and influencing capabilities.
- Experience identifying workforce risks and delivering practical solutions that balance operational requirements with people outcomes.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a challenging operational environment.
