About us:
Queensland Virtual Academy (QVA) provides flexible, high-quality online education for Queensland students, offering personalised learning and innovative teaching through a virtual school environment.
Queensland Virtual Academy supports students to engage in their learning from wherever they are, while building strong connections with teachers and the wider school community.
The Senior Project Officer will:
- Collaborate with teachers, curriculum writers, and producers to translate curriculum intent into engaging, visual learning experiences.
- Design and develop age-appropriate, educational animations, illustrations, graphics and visual assets that improve student understanding and engagement across On-demand Learning Materials resources.
- Apply design principles to create visual communication and explanation that reduces cognitive load, supports knowledge retention and improves accessibility for diverse learners from a range of backgrounds.
- Develop cohesive visual identities, reusable templates, animation systems, icon libraries and design assets that provide consistency (brand) across curriculum areas and future productions.
- Contribute specialist advice on visual storytelling, animation and educational media, throughout the production lifecycle from concept development through to final delivery.
- Establish and maintain scalable production workflows and asset management processes that improve efficiency, collaboration and quality across all deliverables.
- Build productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support successful project outcomes.
- Undertake other duties as required.
What you will need to succeed:
We are seeking an innovative and highly creative professional with demonstrated experience in animation, motion design, visual communication or learning experience design, together with the ability to translate complex concepts into engaging, educational experiences.
Successful applicants will combine strong design capability with collaborative problem-solving, working alongside curriculum experts and production teams to create high-quality, digital learning resources that support teaching and learning across the state.
Specifically, the ideal applicant will demonstrate:
- Demonstrated experience in animation, motion graphics, illustration, visual communication or learning experience design.
- Strong knowledge of contemporary animation and digital design workflows, including practical experience across design production.
- Ability to translate complex educational concepts into transparent, engaging and visually effective learning experiences.
- Experience developing reusable design, templates and creative assets that support consistency, efficiency, and scalable production.
- Ability to provide creative direction, design advice and innovative solutions.
- Understanding of learning design principles and how purposeful, visual communication can improve learner engagement and understanding.
- Exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement, while supporting the Production team's commitment to deliver assets within desired timeframes.
Mandatory requirements:
- In accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 a person is prohibited from working in regulated child-related employment unless the person holds a current Working with Children Check clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
