JSBC Consulting is an established Structural and Façade Engineering consultancy delivering large-scale, complex and architecturally challenging building projects across Sydney and Australia.

As our structural team continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Structural Engineer / Senior Structural Engineer with approximately 4–8 years’ experience in the Sydney building market to join our team.

This opportunity is suited to an engineer who already has a strong technical foundation and is now looking for greater project responsibility, exposure to complex buildings, direct access to senior engineers and a genuine pathway toward leading projects.

You will work closely with our Structural Engineering Lead, delivering residential and mixed-use developments from concept design through documentation and construction.

This is not a role where you will simply complete calculations in the background. We want you to become a well-rounded consulting engineer — technically strong, commercially aware, confident dealing with architects, builders and clients, and increasingly capable of taking ownership of projects.

The Role

Depending on your experience, you will take responsibility for an increasing level of project delivery, including:

- Structural design of multi-storey residential, mixed-use and other building projects.

- Developing structural concepts and design solutions in collaboration with senior engineers.

- Preparing and reviewing structural analysis models, calculations and design documentation.

- Designing reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, steel and other structural systems applicable to our projects.

- Preparing design sketches and providing clear engineering direction to structural drafters.

- Coordinating structural design with architects, builders and other engineering disciplines.

- Attending design and coordination meetings.

- Responding to RFIs and resolving structural issues during construction.

- Undertaking site inspections and construction-phase engineering.

- Reviewing shop drawings and construction documentation.

- Communicating directly with clients, architects, builders and consultants.

- For more experienced candidates, taking increasing responsibility for project leadership, design reviews and mentoring junior engineers.

About You

We are specifically looking for an engineer with local structural building experience in the Sydney market.

You will have:

- A Bachelor of Engineering in Civil or Structural Engineering.

- Approximately 4–8 years of post-graduate structural engineering experience, primarily within the buildings sector.

- Substantial experience working on building projects in Sydney / NSW.

- Robust experience in the structural design of residential apartment and mixed-use developments.



Experience with commercial or retail buildings will also be valued.

- A strong understanding of reinforced concrete building design and multi-storey structural systems.

- Experience taking projects through both the design and construction phases.

- Strong working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, the NCC, DBP ACT, and Australian building practices.

- Good structural analysis and design capability, including experience with ETABS.

- Experience with software such as RAPT, RAM Concept, WALLAP, SpaceGass and/or Microstran.

- The ability to produce clear calculations, engineering sketches and design documentation.

- Confidence communicating with architects, builders, developers and other consultants.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- A practical approach to structural engineering, with an interest in buildability and construction rather than design in isolation.

CPEng, NER and/or NSW Professional Engineer / Design Practitioner registration will be highly regarded but are not essential.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is technically curious, takes pride in their engineering, wants responsibility and is motivated to continue developing.
