Kommand Pty Ltd is an Australian civil construction technology company specialising in advanced machine-control, positioning and precision-grading solutions for the earthmoving and civil construction industries. Operating from its Queensland headquarters in Wacol and Victorian office in Huntingdale, Kommand supplies, hires, installs, calibrates, services and supports 2D and 3D machine-control systems, GNSS/GPS rovers and base stations, total stations, UTS and cab kits, grading attachments and associated electronic control equipment for excavators, dozers, graders, skid-steer loaders, compactors and other civil construction machinery. Its specialised services include technology selection and system configuration, electrical and electronic installation, calibration and testing, equipment demonstrations, operator training, software support, fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, repairs and ongoing technical assistance. Kommand collaborates closely with contractors to configure solutions suited to their machinery, project designs and site conditions, helping improve operational accuracy, productivity and workplace safety while reducing rework and equipment downtime.

Summary of Position

Kommand Pty Ltd is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Electrical Engineering Draftsperson to join its Queensland operations at 75 Nashos Place, Wacol QLD 4076. The position will support the design, installation, integration and maintenance of electrical and electronic components used in machine-control, GNSS positioning and precision-grading systems. The successful applicant will prepare and revise detailed electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, layouts, technical specifications and installation documentation; interpret engineering designs and manufacturers’ specifications; assist with system configuration and component selection; maintain accurate drawing and technical records; and collaborate with engineering, installation and technical-support personnel to ensure that systems meet operational, safety and quality requirements. This is a full-time position working 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 7.30 am and 5:00 pm, with an annual base salary of $105,773 for full-time 38 hours per week plus superannuation and employment benefits in accordance with the National Employment Standards of Australia. In addition to base salary, you will receive Regular Overtime of 7 hours per week, and you will be paid remuneration of $29,227 per year for overtime. Also, you will be paid $30 per week towards Health & Wellbeing allowance, total $1,560 per year. Your total remuneration including base salary, overtime, and allowance will be $136,560 per year. You will receive Super @12% p.a. on Base Salary.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare accurate electrical engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, circuit diagrams, schematics, equipment layouts and installation plans for machine-control, GNSS positioning and precision-grading systems.

- Support the design, manufacture, assembly, installation, testing, calibration, operation and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment and associated control systems.

- Interpret engineering designs, technical specifications,



manufacturers’ documentation and customer requirements to develop practical drafting and installation solutions.

- Assist electrical engineers, engineering technologists and technical personnel with system design, component selection, equipment configuration and product development.

- Ensure drawings, designs, equipment and completed installations comply with applicable specifications, safety requirements, regulations and Kommand’s quality standards.

- Maintain accurate drawing registers, technical records, bills of materials, test results, product documentation and revision histories.

- Collaborate with engineering, production, installation, service and technical-support personnel to ensure projects are completed accurately and efficiently.

- Provide technical assistance to customers and internal personnel regarding equipment installation, configuration, troubleshooting and operation.

Duties to Be Performed

- Prepare and revise detailed electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, circuit layouts, schematics, cable schedules and technical plans for electrical installations and control systems.

- Produce technical drawings and diagrams required for the manufacture and assembly of electrical cabling, wiring harnesses, control panels and related circuitry.

- Prepare bills of materials, component lists and estimates of required materials, quantities and associated costs.

- Interpret engineering drawings, project specifications, manufacturers’ instructions and technical data relating to machine-control and positioning equipment.

- Assist with the design and layout of cabling systems, electronic control systems, power supplies, sensors, antennas, receivers, displays and related electrical components.

- Select and specify suitable electrical and electronic components in consultation with engineering and technical personnel.

- Collect and analyse technical data, undertake calculations and prepare charts, tables, reports and recommendations.

- Test electrical cables, wiring assemblies, components and completed systems using metering, diagnostic and functional-testing procedures.

- Assist with the installation, configuration, calibration, modification, commissioning and repair of machine-control, GNSS positioning and precision-grading systems.

- Inspect drawings, incoming components, manufactured assemblies and completed products to confirm compliance with specifications, regulations, safety requirements and quality standards.

- Identify drafting, design or installation discrepancies and prepare corrected drawings and technical documentation.

- Assist with research, testing and development of new products and system configurations by collecting test data, evaluating results and presenting findings.

- Provide remote and on-site technical guidance to customers regarding equipment setup, fault identification, troubleshooting and correct system operation.

- Maintain current technical files, drawing registers, document-control records, test reports and equipment specifications.

- Prepare parts, components,



electrical assemblies and system kits required for production, installation and field-service work.

- Assist with testing, servicing and processing technical equipment being supplied to or returned by customers.

- Contribute to the development and improvement of drafting, testing, documentation and quality-control procedures.

Skills Required

- Advanced ability to prepare and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, circuit diagrams, schematics and equipment layouts.

- Proficiency in relevant computer-aided design and drafting software and document-control systems.

- Sound knowledge of electrical circuitry, cabling systems, electronic components, control equipment and electrical installation principles.

- Ability to interpret engineering specifications, technical manuals, manufacturers’ documentation and project requirements.

- Competence in preparing bills of materials, component schedules, material estimates and technical reports.

- Practical ability to use electrical metering, diagnostic and functional-testing equipment.

- Understanding of equipment installation, system configuration, calibration, commissioning, fault diagnosis and quality-assurance procedures.

- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to collect, assess and present technical data.

- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in preparing and revising technical drawings and documentation.

- Knowledge of relevant workplace health and safety requirements, electrical safety principles, technical specifications and quality standards.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical matters to customers and colleagues.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with engineering, production, installation, service and customer-support teams.

- Robust organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records.

Education Required

- An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in electrical engineering, electrical engineering drafting, engineering technology or another closely related discipline; or

- An equivalent overseas qualification assessed as comparable to the relevant Australian qualification.

Relevant experience or on-the-job training may also be required in addition to the formal qualification. Any registration or licence legally required to perform particular duties must be held or obtained.

Experience Required

Minimum three years’ relevant post-qualification experience in electrical engineering drafting or a closely related role. Experience preparing electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable layouts, component schedules and bills of materials; interpreting technical specifications; supporting installation, testing, calibration, commissioning and maintenance; conducting quality and safety checks; troubleshooting faults; and maintaining technical records. Experience with machine-control, GNSS/GPS, precision-grading or customer technical support is highly regarded.
