About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall performance, operational efficiency and day-to-day management of the retail store including. You will lead retail and warehouse staff, maintain high customer service standards, support sales growth, oversee stock and inventory processes, and help ensure a safe, productive and well-organised workplace.

Key responsibilities

- Manage daily retail operations and drive store sales performance.
- Lead, train, coach and develop retail and trade sales staff.
- Maintain excellent customer service standards and resolve escalated customer issues.
- Monitor inventory and stock levels, supporting timely replenishment and accuracy.
- Manage rosters to ensure appropriate coverage across retail and warehouse operations.
- Ensure store presentation, displays and processes align with company standards.




- Maintain safe working practices and support compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management on key operational and staff matters.

What we’re looking for

- Demonstrated experience in retail operations management, ideally within hardware, timber, building supplies or a similar trade-focused environment.
- Proven ability to lead a team, drive sales and manage day-to-day operations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Sound knowledge of inventory management, stock control and retail processes.
- High level of organisation, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Confidence using point of sale and management systems.
- A hands‑on leadership style and willingness to work where you’re needed.

Working environment

This is a fast‑paced retail and trade sales environment with regular interaction across the sales floor, showroom and warehouse. The role is hands‑on and may involve movement between areas of the business, occasional manual handling of stock, and rostered hours including weekend work as required.
