Help shape better mental health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people

Use your cultural knowledge, lived experience and community connections to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, adolescents, young adults and their families.

As part of the Cultural Assessment and Liaison Team (CALT), you will support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing Child and Youth Mental Health Services by providing culturally safe support, guidance and advocacy. Working alongside multidisciplinary mental health teams, you’ll help strengthen cultural safety, support positive care experiences and contribute to better wellbeing outcomes for children, young people and families.

In this role you will:

Provide cultural support, advocacy and guidance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people,familiesand carers

Contribute to culturally informed assessment and treatment planning

Support clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to deliver culturally safe care

Provide cultural supervision and advice to staff across the Mental Health Service Group

Strengthenpartnershipswith Aboriginal andTorresStrait Islander communityorganisationsand stakeholders

Contribute to health promotion initiatives supporting mental health,wellbeingand substance misuse prevention

Requirements

Under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, this is an identified position, and applicants must be Indigenous to the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.

Applicants musthold a Certificate IV or Diploma in one of the following:

Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health

Certificate IV in Mental Health

Certificate IV in Alcohol andOtherDrugs

A suitable applicant who does not currently hold a relevant qualification may be considered for a temporary appointment while undertaking a supported training pathway. Upon successful completion, the employee will progress to a permanent appointment.

Additionalrequirements include:

Eligibility to obtain andmaintaina Blue Card (Working with Children Check)

A current Class C driver’s licence
