Your role at St John of God Midland Public Hospital Join St John of God Midland Public Hospital as a Speech Pathologist – Grade 1 and build your career in one of Western Australia's busiest and most rewarding public hospital settings. We are seeking an experienced Speech Pathologist to join our team covering all wards including stroke and rehab, ICU/CCU, general medical, surgical, mental health, emergency and outpatients.
Position Responsibilities
- Assessment of patients with communication, cognitive and swallowing disorders
- Development of individual treatment and therapy programs (with long and short term goals)
- Complete clinical documentation and undertake administrative tasks as required. This may include communication of assessment results and therapy outcomes to the referring party and other parties involved in the patient’s management.
- Actively prioritise own caseload including participating in relevant clinical review meetings and case conferences as appropriate.
- Support and liaise with patients, carers, colleagues, medical, nursing, allied health, support staff, external agencies and the private sector to provide coordinated multidisciplinary care.
- Educate patients/carers in assessment, treatment and post discharge management and organise discharge summaries/referrals to other services, as appropriate.
- Promote professional values and ethics in clinical practice and participate in ongoing evaluation of clinical practice.
- Participate in evidence based clinical research activities where required.
- As relevant, supervise and support Allied Health Assistants and students to deliver effective services as per the Speech Pathology Australia recommendations.
Position Requirements
Position Requirements for the Role: To be successful in this role, you will hold a tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and be eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia. You will demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and experience in the assessment, treatment, and evaluation of patients using evidence-based speech pathology practice. You will also possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Strong organisational and time management skills, together with the ability to effectively prioritise and coordinate a diverse caseload, will be essential for your success in providing patient centred care. Above all, patient care will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.
Salary and Benefits
We can offer you Salary: $88,501 to $124,464 (pro rata for part-time) plus 12% superannuation Casual Rate: $55.81 to 78.48 per hour (inclusive of casual loading), plus 12% superannuation Casual, fixed term and potential future permanent roles available.
