Are you passionate about governance, integrity, and well-managed student processes? Macquarie University is seeking a Governance Officer to join the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Dean of Students), supporting the consistent and compliant management of student matters across the University. This is a student-facing role requiring full-time, on-campus presence. It is a fixed term contract until 2 April 2027.
About the Role As the Governance Officer, you will provide practical advice, guidance, and implementation support to ensure student-related processes align with University policies, procedures, and governance frameworks. This is a highly cooperative role, working closely with staff, students, and key stakeholders to strengthen governance practices and support clear, consistent approaches to student matters. Provide systems and governance advice, guidance, and support to PVC (DoS) staff managing student matters, ensuring alignment with University frameworks and reporting requirements Manage and triage complaints, misconduct matters, and student enquiries, providing clear and timely guidance on relevant policies, procedures, and processes Provide secretariat and administrative support, including coordinating meetings and preparing agendas, briefing materials, and documentation Build and maintain effective relationships with students and key stakeholders, and contribute to the development of resources and support materials Support governance and compliance activities, including student group governance, data collection, reporting, and adherence to relevant regulations, rules, and policies Collate and analyse information, and prepare briefings and reports to inform decision-making.

About You You are a highly organised and collaborative professional with a strong understanding of governance, policy and administrative processes. You bring a genuine commitment to supporting students and are comfortable working across diverse stakeholder groups. You are proactive, detail-oriented and able to manage competing priorities within tight deadlines.
Selection Criteria:
- Degree or equivalent experience in governance, compliance, administration, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
- Experience managing or triaging complex matters, enquiries, or complaints
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and practical guidance
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders
- Strong organisational and analytical skills, including experience supporting reporting and decision-making
Additional Requirements:
- Current Working with Children Check and Criminal History Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours to meet business needs
