The Role You’ll Play
An exciting chance has become available for an enthusiastic, reliable and customer-focused Maintenance Officer to join our team on a full-time basis.
Reporting to the Village Manager, you will play an key role in ensuring our village is maintained to a high standard through both reactive and preventative maintenance, while providing exceptional customer service to our residents.
We're looking for someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative and is equally comfortable completing maintenance tasks, maintaining gardens and liaising with contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Village Manager, your duties will include:
- Carrying out reactive and preventative maintenance throughout the village.
- Completing general handyman duties including minor carpentry, painting, patching, basic plumbing repairs and installations.
- Maintaining the presentation of village buildings, common areas and facilities.
- Keeping pathways, driveways and outdoor areas clean, safe and free from debris.
- Assisting with storm preparation and clean-up, including coordinating contractors for larger works such as fallen branches and tree removal.
- Responding promptly and professionally to resident maintenance requests.
- Coordinating external contractors and ensuring works are completed safely and to a high standard.
- Conducting routine property inspections and identifying maintenance requirements before they become larger issues.
- Maintaining maintenance records, work orders and reporting capital works requirements to the Village Manager.
- Ensuring compliance with Workplace Health & Safety procedures and maintaining a safe environment for residents, visitors and contractors.
- Assisting with village events, furniture moves, deliveries and other operational duties as required.
- Village bus duties including safe transportation of our residents and ensuring bus safety compliance and maintenance on occasion.
- Assisting with various Adhoc duties where required, as directed by the Village Manager.
About You
The successful applicant will demonstrate experience in a maintenance, facilities, gardening or handyman role and will also have:
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
- A positive, can-do attitude and strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- A genuine interest in working with older members of the community.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools and gardening equipment.
- The ability to identify and undertake both reactive and preventative maintenance.
- A strong understanding of Workplace Health & Safety requirements.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A current Victorian Driver's Licence.
- Physical fitness to perform manual work both indoors and outdoors.
- Trade qualifications are highly regarded but are not essential.
Employment Requirements
The successful applicant will be required to:
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) a National Police Check.
- Have unrestricted Australian working rights.
- Participate in relevant workplace training and inductions.
- Provide evidence of the right to work in Australia.
Employment Details
- Full-time permanent position.
- Monday to Friday roster.
- Award: Aged Care Award 2020 (MA ) .
- Salary commensurate with experience.
Start Date
We are looking for someone who can commence before 30 September 2026.
